How awesome for you to take her on a cruise. I wish i had discovered cruising before my grandparents had passed. I am so sorry!! I know you have great memories -- but you're right, I have wonderful ones we've created cruising! Some when she remembered more and participated more -- and some recently, where the photos make her smile as if it's all new to her!!! Bless you! ...and thank you for the comment! Loving your review! My DD moved back in from New Hampshire -- and she helps too! But right now, she's away in England, celebrating her 26th birthday, today. And flying home tomorrow! LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #110 Share Posted September 23, 2014 After getting the Liberty off safely, we felt our responsibilities were through, so we showered and got ready ourselves, for dinner... yes ... FOOD! You know, I didn't gain any weight on the cruise -- I think because our cabin was all the way forward and just to get Nana's Ruben from lunch I had to walk all the way aft, then all the way back forward. And I like to people watch, and that involves walking -- and the slides -- OH YES! There are stairs to climb!!! But it's all easy and it helps make room for the food! Anyway, back to showering... and NO, I didn't take photos of that!!! <wink wink> With our dining right off the Lobby elevators, and Deck 4, there are nice benches to sit and relax and people watch. So Wingie found a seat... BUT IT WAS ON TOP OF LITTLE LAMBIE!!! OH NO!!! Poor baby!!! But he seems to be OK... No thanks to that "HUSSEY!" He hid behind Nana all during dinner, not trusting Wingie!! LambKnuckles Posted September 23, 2014 Author #111 Share Posted September 23, 2014 Nana had the turkey and bow-tie pasta for dinner... The rest of us enjoyed tasty selections, too!! We headed back to the cabin and found a dangerous StingRay waiting for us. Little Lambie wasn't intimidated! He had survived the giant sitting on him -- so he grabbed that stingray by the tail and swung him around and slammed him to the bed and sat on him!!! I think Hulk Hogan would have been proud of his moves and take down!!! We went back downstairs at 8:15 to get in line for the show: Destination Unknown. A wonderful, full production, with the singers and dancers, masterful Illusion Show! Jason Byrne is the Illusionist and the drama and entertainment is OUTSTANDING!!! The pyrotechnics and use of the whole Lounge is great!!! When we got back to cabin, we were covered in metallic confetti both outside and inside! LambKnuckles Posted September 24, 2014 Author #116 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Did I just call that towel animal a Stingray -- no, I should have called it a scorpion or lobster... I can't figure out which... .... Thursday morning... It's still very dark when I wake. well, actually, I woke a few times in the night. We put a Room Service tag on the front door since Wingie had an EARLY excursion. She asked for the room service to come between 6 and 6:15. She had to be down in the Showtime Theatre at 7:30am. HOWEVER... The room service tag was NEVER SEEN! Nana woke during the night and got turned around coming back to bed. Somehow, she managed to open the front cabin door (which I would not have thought possible since it has some resistance from the self closure) and when she saw the tag hanging on the outside of the door, unhooked it and brought it in. Then she started down the hall -- apparently looking for her bed... (She's the Mama, Gotta love her!! -- and I truly do!!) So, it's only 5:35am... Sunrise was listed on the FunTimes as 5:54 -- so let's go look... I did see a Royal Caribbean ship over to the port side. I assumed it was so since there was a blue shine on top! And I see how close we are to land, so this must be Belize! It's just dark and it's raining... So, I head back in and wake Wingie. Explain there will be no breakfast in bed -- and she showers and dresses, while I head back outside... We're zigging and zagging into port... Well closer to port to tender... LambKnuckles Posted September 24, 2014 Author #117 Share Posted September 24, 2014 You can see the rain is all around... It starts to rain on me... so I head back inside... Nana's sound asleep after her disappearing caper! And Wingie and I head down to the Lido deck for her breakfast! She's fully satisfied by 7:15 -- and I just have coffee. I'll have breakfast with Nana in the MDR later. Getting back to the cabin, She grabs her bag for the excursion to the ruins of Xunantunich. I tell her to take a washcloth or hand towel so she can dry off from sweat or rain... but she knows best and says she won't need it. I tell her to take water -- or refill a Coke bottle with water -- again, she says no, she knows best... (hee hee hee -- she does find out these are PERFECT recommendations to do!). And off she heads to the Theatre. Being an early excursion, she'll have priority tender boarding; this is why they have to meet early! Belize is a tender port. The ship does NOT pull in to a dock. You access the land via "ferries" or tenders... The process used aboard is: If you book an excursion through Carnival, you receive an automatic priority tendering number by meeting early and your excursion ticket is your tender ticket. If you book directly with a tour director on land, you must go down and tender tickets (FREE) are assigned on a first come, first serve basis -- but once you have the ticket, you sit or stand in line and wait your turn. If you are Platinum or Diamond or Faster To The Fun, you just ask and you have priority. These tickets are available beginning at 7am, in the upper Northern Lights Dining Room, Deck 4 forward. Your entire party must be present to get that many tickets. Now that Wingie's taken care of, I lay our Nana's clothes and head back outside, there a break in the rain... (speaking of rain, I wonder if there will be any excursions???) Here's where the TV says we are... and by-cracken, that's where we are!!!
LambKnuckles Posted September 24, 2014 Author #118 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Nana is dawdling as she dresses -- so I head back outside. The tenders are coming!!! It's the Navigator of the Seas over there... But there's still rain around us...
LambKnuckles Posted September 24, 2014 Author #119 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Nana's dressed and it's time to head down to eat breakfast... Today is Thursday, September 11th... PATRIOT'S DAY... And I waas so proud to see the flag hanging in the Lobby Atrium!! What an honor Carnival pays to America, and our heros and fallen heros!!! We're suppose to get off the elevator on Deck 5, and head down the Promenade Deck to the aft elevators, to deck 3 and the Southern Lights. But, I wanted to head to Deck 3, Lobby, to see if all the excursions got off or if any were cancelled. I thought I'd see if Wingie actually made hers. Oh the flag is hanging proudly!!! No excursion was cancelled that they heard -- and tendering was proceeding nicely. I guess they know what they're doing! She's suppose to climb the ruin, and with lightning, I'd be a bit worried... Now back on and we head up to Deck 5, to walk to the aft elevators... REMEMBER -- Deck 3 has the galley, and that blocks walking all the way aft on that deck! Nana LOVES her eggs Benedict every morning!!! But I always ask for the ham to be on the side, so it's easier for me to cut for her. (And I find it's just a bit fresher...) Heading back to the cabin -- we take the aft elevators all the way to Deck 10, and walk through the Lido Marketplace (restaurant and seating and out to the Beach Pool, mid-ship, Lido... no one's here... Well, the sprinkles kind of preclude that... Coming back in, we pass the atrium -- that goes all the way to the slides... and look down to see the flag... LambKnuckles Posted September 24, 2014 Author #120 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Then head out to see the view. You can see on the NOTS how the tender comes right up to the ship. It's only about 5 steps down to the tender and then step in and find a bench seat. Walking back into the cabin... here's what we see from the hallway in front of our door... They're already cleaning!!! If you hang out the CRUISIN' sign on the door -- while you're at breakfast -- that let''s the cabin Stewards know you're out and it's ok to clean the cabin... LambKnuckles Posted September 24, 2014 Author #121 Share Posted September 24, 2014 If you turn it over... well, they won't bother you! Gugum and Daniel saw our sign and the room was ready for Nana and me! Nana hadn't gotten enough sleep and she wanted a nap, and with Wingie gone on a 7.5 hour excursion, we had the day to ourselves, so I went off and walked through a practically deserted ship. The shops are all closed when the ship is in ports... but I can see inside... Ooo, the Charm Bracelet sale starts at 7:30this evening... Here are the prices... These doors head out to the walk around deck, outside -- Deck 5 And now into the upper seating of the Main Showtime Theatre. Back down the passageway to the "trophy cabinet" the awards that Magic has earned
LambKnuckles Posted September 24, 2014 Author #122 Share Posted September 24, 2014 You can see the passageway as it goes past the jewelery store... Another chance to pick out your charm bracelet... LambKnuckles Posted September 24, 2014 Author #125 Share Posted September 24, 2014 And the liquor store... And the kiosk that will tell you what the status of your S&S card is, if you didn't read it on TV Now, walking farther down the Promenade Deck, through the Casino. Just like in Vegas, there is no way to walk this deck without going THROUGH the Casino. And if you're sensative to second hand smoke... there is a lingering odor in this area... but you can get through it quickly...
