Carrying over OBCs

And we have had the opposite experience of having our unused internet minutes rolled over to the second leg of a b/b; so obviously any roll over is at the discretion of the person you speak to at the Internet Café.

Yes, I've had it both ways & it's frustrating that Princess doesn't enforce one policy on all cruises to rollover minutes.

Something I learned some time back is that the internet is operated by an independent company, not Princess. I have had troubles in the past, gone to Internet Cafe manager who wasn't much help so stopped at Guest Services only to be told they have no control. I did ask them to intervene, they did, and problem was solved. Most of the time I have found the Internet Cafe managers to be very helpful.

What I was to.d by one IC type was that they they really didn't want to be bothered with small amounts but if the unused minutes were north of 30 they would consider a roll over. However, as we have seen this does very from ship to ship and person to person.

And how do you know this to be absolute fact?

As anyone who has cruised Princess knows, Nothing is absolute from one sailing Or ship to another. However, Non refundable credits cannot be used in casino, because then they would be able to be refunded. Princess is well aware of the ability to download cash from existing OBC to your casino account and then cash out your voucher at the cashiers cage. Thats why they have a * next to them in your personalizer.

This seems to be another of the things that Princess handles inconsistently. On the Golden in March we used most of our allotted 250 minutes on the 1st cruise of a b2b but were told by the internet café manager that any remaining minutes would not rollover to the 2nd cruise. :(

A bit OT: What is the latest info on using OBC in the casino on Princess? I have never done it, but have far more OBC than I will be able to use on my upcoming 4-nighter, so was wondering if I could spend some there rather than wagering cash out of pocket? Some threads on this are getting old, so I thought I'd ask recent passengers. TIA.

I'm not certain how all the other ships are handling this situation today but on the CB as of last night transferring money to the casino account was still allowed, similar to all the other ships in past years.;)

In most situations this is true BUT I found out that IF you don't use any of the minutes from the first leg on a particular account they won't carry over for some reason.

If you go up to the Internet cafe and talk nice to the manager there he can roll your minutes to the next cruise. Did that last winter on Pacific Princess.

Not always...we always talk nice to all staff including the Internet Café manager who would not allow us rollover remaining minutes to the next cruise. :(

Be careful! The fact that you were able to transfer it doesn't mean the amount you transferred will be necessarily be applied against your OBC's. You may find those OBC's still sitting unused on your onboard account when you disembark, together with a new charge (eventually to your credit card) for the amount you transferred. So instead of cashing out $200, you'll be leaving $200 on the ship and have to pay your credit card company another $200. That's the way it appears this new policy is going to work.

Is this from personal experience? It doesn't make sense to me as "*Please enjoy using these credits onboard as they are not refundable." says to me I can use that credit onboard as I see fit. I won't be putting money on my casino account, then cashing out. But I would have every intention of putting money on my casino account and "using it onboard".

But to avoid any issues I will not prepay my Princess Cay's Bungalow as I had planned, but let my OBC pay for that. Instead I will gift myself that amount to use in the casino. Just to be sure.
