First time on RCI - IOS - suggestions?

Hi all...in a little over 2 weeks we will be boarding the IOS in Southampton. First time on RCI - have been on 10 other cruises, primarily with NCL.

For those of you who have been on the IOS (this is our first time on a such a large ship) how would you suggest we approach our trip? Any "not to miss" suggestions? I understand there is a parade - what night is that held on?

Because of what I read here, and what was suggeseted previously - we are in a mid-bump cabin on the 6th deck...we are on mytime dining which means we will be close to DR we have been assigned to. Also, will I be able to do my preflight check in and print out my boarding passes the night before in their business center? On NCL I did a "pay as your go" for using the computer - just needed it to say "hey" to the folks back home - will RCI have that same type of offering? I am open to any and all suggestions.

I know - a lot of questions - but you folks are the experts so here I be!

Many thanks in advance. :D

Ciao,

In relation to the ice shows, there should hopefully be 2 different shows on your sailing with multiple performances - we only had one show (with multiple performances) on our 8 night in May. You must get tickets for these - they will advertise where and when tickets will be available. No other show needs reservation.

All the staff I came across were so lovely and they couldn't do enough to help. Joff is a fantastic Cruise Director and if your Captain is Henrik Loy, he too is fantastic - very good at pointing out things and letting you know when the ship will be passing points of interest.

Rock The Boat (band) should be back onboard now. They perform in the Pyramid Lounge - great music.

I didn't make it Johnny Rockets in May but my mum did this last June and loved it. We will definitely be going there when we are back on in November.

I didn't use the internet last time I was on the ship so unfortunately cannot help with this.

There are several parades - 70s is fantastic. I wouldn't know what time it will be on your sailing but it will be well advertised in the cruise compass which you will receive in your cabin the night before for the following day. There were other parades as well.

The Quest - very very funny and well worth going!

You will have a fantastic cruise. :)
