Borntotravel53 Posted September 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2014 We are an older couple with very little interest in snorkeling and the like but we are excited about a sailboat cruise and visiting new ports. Which if any of the caribbean trips would you recommend? We do like the beach and warm weather and have visited the caribbean before on large vessels. Thanks for sharing your recommendations. Strenz Posted September 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2014 We have sailed on all the Caribbean cruises with Windstar. I love them all but for me I adore the BVI's. Also I think Dominica is a wonderful place, great people, trying to become the organic garden of the Caribbean. I do not think you can go wrong. Happy Sailing. Hillskis Posted September 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Take a look at the shore excursions listed for each of the 3 cruises Windstar does in the Caribbean. They will indicate how much non-water related activities are offered. An itinerary with larger islands will offer more non-water related activities since there will be more land focused excursions. SailorJM Posted September 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2014 Windstar or Star Clippers for resort casual sailing. Swimming not req'd, fun promised. If you might be interested in the more casual, also fun tall-ship/windjammer sailing (swimming also not req'd....I'm part of an older couple, and I don't swim, either, tho I love the windjammer tall ships, the sailing, the islands).... ....see my post in the Cruise Lines A-O or P-Z Board Forums section, titled: Windjammer/tall-ship sailing. thatbloominplace Posted November 13, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 13, 2014 we recently enjoyed the cruise to the bvi. this included a couple of overnight stays that allow you to go ashore for a few drinks at some of the lively night spots. even though i am an avid swimmer and love snorkeling, we did very little but just enjoyed the beaches and laid back.
