$$$...Show me the way.

I have $150 in obc for an upcoming four-day cruise; $50 of it is refundable and $100 is not. After $48 for gratuities, I know there is no way I'm going to spend all $102 that's left. We are booking private excursions and Victory doesn't have a steakhouse.

I remember reading how folks have been able to get non-refundable obc by going to the casino, playing a slot, and receiving the rest back in cash, but I've searched and cannot find the info. Can someone please advise.

Thanks so much.

The casino fee is 3 % for funds which in your case is $3. Yes there is no fee for playing the slots

BUT they actually monitor your use and no longer allow you to just dump the money

into your casino card and then cash out. They are wise to it. If you actually wish to

sit at the slots for a while you can eventually cash out with whatever remains. I'd pay the 3 % at

the tables, get the chips and go and cash out.

(This was all the case 15 months ago. Perhaps they are now charging the 3 % on the slots as well.)

The casino is really not going to notice if you pull $100 onto your account the first day/evening take a couple of pulls on the slot and then cash out the next day or even probably later that night. I wouldn't give them 3% by sitting at a table...

IF you did larger amounts and did it often, then yes they would have an issue, but they are not going to be concerned with one $100 transfer.

We had $80 of non-refundable OBC. I went to a Black Jack table and got $80 worth of chips. They did NOT charge 3%. You can then take the chips to the cage and cash them out. Or you can play some Black Jack, which is what I did.

And when you cash out your chips, they do not ask for your S&S card or id...they just hand you cash...so they are not tracking that. Yeah they track how many chips you buy initially....but that is where it stops as far as I can tell.

DANG... we have the tips as well. 2 Cheers packages. And possibily a steak or lobster in the MDR. Plus shopping on the ship. For a three day cruise w/o the CHEERS, I would be hard pressed to not spend $200 on drinks and a couple hundred elsewhere on the ship. It should be easy to swap the money out in the casino though. Take care and enjoy!!

Do you never buy a drink or soda? Maybe a trinket in the shops? Are there 2 of you? If so, the tips will be $48 PP....That pretty much eats up that $100.

I'm taking my mom on this cruise. We booked when I received a great offer from Carnival-book a cabin (inside) for $200 and get $200 obc. We upgraded to a balcony cabin on Lido and paid $140 each (the balcony upgrade was only $40 pp) and have $100 obc each. Mom will have $52 and I'll have $102 after gratuities. (My husband and I own Carnival stock so I received another $50.)

Mom doesn't drink. I drink little alcohol and no soda at all. (We'll each receive a free drink coupon so Mom will order something for me-that's two drinks I won't have to charge to my S&S account.) This will be my 18th cruise (15th Carnival) so no trinkets are necessary.

Thanks anyway. :)

You can put your card in the slot machine and download money from your card to your player bank. Take a turn or two on the slot machine, then take your card to the cashier in the casino and cash out. I just did this last month and they do not charge a fee.

I did this at a video poker machine last cruise, put my $80.00 on my card & rolled a 4 of a kind for $125.00 cashed out & walked. Sheer luck prob. will never happen again.

I am impressed. We can drop $100 in the first two hours of a cruise.

I'm serious! 100 bucks is nothing over the course of a cruise. And I don't even gamble.

When Mom and I cruised for four days in June 2013, I had only a $50 obc. After the two free drink coupons, buying a picture, and paying gratuities, my final S&S bill was...71 cents. :D

I think I'll try the casino methods and see what happens.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone. Happy Friday.
