deerby27 Posted October 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) This coming March my dear wife and I are taking our first cruise on Celebrity. My question is, what is the minimum value of the color chips on the roulette tables? Carnival and Princess it is $1.00, but on NCL it was $2.00. r5516 Posted October 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2014 My recollection was a minimum bet of $5 but you could spread the bet on the numbers, i.e. $1 on five different combinations.
antsnanny Posted October 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2014 The minimum color is 1.00 on Celebrity Summit.
Queen of Oakville Posted October 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2014 I'm not a huge roulette player, but on most ship, the colour value is $1, but the minimum but will vary. I'm not aware of any ship that will let you play $1 at a time. I would think that $5 is standard, and that you can either put 5 $1 chips on one spot or split them. K.T.B. Posted October 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2014 I only blackjack, so I can only tell you what I know about that game. The minimum chip value is a $1, but the minimum bets are $5. Though occasionally the minimum bets are $10. It just depends on the evening I suppose.
warmwinds Posted October 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 6, 2014 I just got off Summit and the minimum bet at some (all?) tables for BJ was $6 - you could either do a $5 main bet and some crazy $1 side bet, or put all $6 on your BJ hand.

Hi Deerby, Unless something has changed recently, I'm fairly certain the chips are $1.00, with the minimum bet of $5. Hope this is helpful ! TorontoSailor Posted October 6, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2014 The colour chips are $1, but the minimum bets on the outside (e.g., red/black, odd/even) are $5. Hope that helps.
antsnanny Posted October 6, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2014 You can choose how much you want your chip to be worth, the minimum at the tables on the Summit (at least when I looked) was 1.00. So you could buy a color and its your call what its value will be. I took this from a website that probably explains it better than I can… An interesting aspect of roulette is how the game’s chips work. Unlike other table games in the casino, roulette chips have no inherent denomination or value. What you “buy-in” for is what a given chip is worth. Your chip could be worth $1 or $100. Your dealer keeps track of your chip value, and different players at a table could be playing with chips of different values, all at the same time. I think the OP wanted to know what the minimum amount of money he can choose his chips to be. I remember many years ago in Las Vegas you could play 50 cent chips but haven't seen that in ages.
