Breakaway - must you book shows?

You can show up and stand in line as "Stand By" and if any seats are available 10 minutes before the show they will let you in. But, there will be people that are reserved for "stand by" as well who get to go in before you.

For Burn the Floor, Rock of Ages, and the magic act you should book a reservation.

The whole set up is not very freestyle.

Here is a review I posted of our recent Breakaway cruise:

I'm not in a suite

How would I book?

If you're not in a suite, you booked with 90 days of trip via MYNCL. Or wait til you get on board to book via your room or the touchscreens.

Yes, to be really freestyle every venue should have 4,000 seats

But sadly, they don't, so gotta show and hope there's seats available or prebook /schedule it before going via touchscreen / TV in roomand/or at home/work via MyNCL website. Even have to reserve some restaurants because their so popular and/or small...I know sucky.....[emoji20]

I was just being sarcastic, is still freestyle to me, do not want a 4,000 seat theater, even on an Oasis plus ship.

I really hate attacking someone's statement, but this is ridiculous. Are you really saying they should have 4,000 seats for every show to be classified as freestyle, when clearly not everyone will go to every show. You just can't please some people.

If you book shows online ahead of time, be sure to double-check dates and times once you're on board (via the interactive TV in your cabin). We had all of our shows and specialty dining co-ordinated and reserved online but had to scramble to re-arrange once we were on the ship...the Breakaway had made changes to the the show schedule for several of those we'd pre-booked. Next time we'll just book everything once we're on the ship.

Can you imagine 4000 guests or even 2000 in a pack being let loose on the ship at once. Don't even think about showing up at the MDR after the shows let out. They intentionally broke the venues up into a lot of small spaces to reduce the feeling of crowds.

The price we pay not to be stampeded is reservations

You don't need a reservation if you are in a suite' date=' you just show your card and will be escorted to the area reserved for Haven guests.

The OP was asking specifically about the Breakaway, so the statement above is incorrect. On Breakaway, Getaway, Epic, and the new builds yet to come, reservations are still required. The "Reserved Seating for Haven Guests" is still available, however the number of reserved seats is not nearly enough to accommodate all haven guests for each show. You must still make a reservation even for the shows in the main theater. Your Concierge will be aware of your reservation, and will make arrangements for escorting you to this reserved area. Haven guests are not required to sit in this reserved area though. Once all Haven guests have been seated, the Concierge will open that reserved area to non-Haven guests as well.

On the older ships, no reservations are required for any show.
