Room decision on Solstice

I have the option of several corner aft sky suites or my currently booked room, Celebrity Suite 1112 on the hump. This is for a May Alaska sailing. Any recommendations based on the ship and sailing destination would be appreciated. Thank you!

The Celebrity Suite on the hump has a wonderful spacious veranda, and would be a lovely suite to have too, you can access Michaels Club I believe if in this type of suite.

The sky aft suites with wrap around are great too, an aft view is always wonderful - this would be cheaper I guess, but you would not get the added benefits of the more expensive suite option.

I think either will actually be fantastic, what a great cruise you will have! :)

If you are booked in a Celebrity suite, I don't know why you are considering an aft Sky suite. I would stay put.

Thanks everyone! I wanted to confirm that I wouldn't be missing anything view-wise by not having an Aft. Part of the appeal was also that the aft rooms are adjoining so I could book my parents next to us which has been helpful in the past since we have our small son with us. I couldn't find any CS that are adjoining however. There will be a total of 9 of us, all a few rooms apart in hump area so it should work out.

I would have to say book the corner aft suite. It's a more open plan room than the Celebrity Suite which is two rooms. I love the aft view for sail-in, sail-away and the view down one side of the ship and across the entire back. We've actually done Alaska that way. You will be spending a great deal of time on deck, all around the ship, as the naturalist aboard (cross your fingers you get Brent Nixon as he's the best of any on any cruise ship) will have great information on when and where to look for whales and other sea life. It's not a casino/pool/sit at the bar all day type of cruise - it's all about the beauty and grandeur of Alaska.

During the time at the glacier and fjords (cruising) we spent a good deal of time on our own aft balcony and it was amazing.

I guess you can't go wrong either way, but we always book sky suites as they are in the budget and plenty big enough. We don't need the separate sealed-off bedroom.

As far as distance to everything, yes, the poster before me is correct. There is no nearby stairwell or elevator. To us, that's kind of a "plus." We always can use the extra walk, and it's QUIET back in the aft section - no one goes there or passes by unless they "live" there! If mobility isn't an issue, then you'll like that. We have never once on a cruise made a decision based on proximity to stairs or elevator. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't like that at all.
