qm2lover Posted October 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Please could you give me some information on Celebrity's shuttle bus policy - availability, cost, booking, etc. (In particular for the ports of Cherbourg, Le Havre, and Zeebugge. And if anyone has any recommendations for things to do in these ports, it would be appreciated.) TIA
AntjeG Posted October 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2014 I can´t comment on Celebrity´s shuttle bus but here are some ideas what to do in some of the ports: Zeebrügge: visit to the historic hanseatic city of Brügge visit to Bruxelles Le Havre: visit to Paris (personally, I wouldn´t do it - too long hours in a bus) visit to the beautiful city of Rouen (possible by train) visit to Claude Monet´s garden in Giverny City Sightseeing in Le Havre itself (not pretty but interesting) visit to the beautiful villages of Honfleur and/or Etretat
jelayne Posted October 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2014 We joined 3 other couples from our Roll Call & hired a taxi in Brugge to take us from the ship & return. Cost 50€ a couple- about half the cost to Celebrity. You can check the Ports of Call section and also check on your roll call you may be able to join others for taxi's or tours in these ports. TIA Id do you own thing in Zeebrugge, great coastal tramway that can get you to all sorts of interesting little towns. A stop is right outside the port
tanneralll Posted October 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Id do you own thing in Zeebrugge, great coastal tramway that can get you to all sorts of interesting little towns.A stop is right outside the port And five minutes along the line is the seaside town of Blankenberg. Sometimes a free shuttle is provided by Celebrity, but as previous poster noted there is a stop just outside the port and the tram looks like fun. Nice promenade and sandy beaches, even has a pier. And just before you get to the beach there's a chocolate shop which sells the most fantastic boxes of layers of chocs for 6 or 12 euros, you just keep filling the layers till box is full. Incredible value. Here's a taster, but the shop itself has many more liqueurs and flavours than on the website. http://www.chocolatesonline.be/index.php?section=shop&lang=EN&cat=2&scrollValue=370 They were so nice we actually arranged online to have half a dozen boxes sent to us last Xmas. There were also quit a few shops with better quality beachwear, and the shoe shops were quite stylish and trendy, definitely not down market but well priced. Also lots of nice coffee shops and cafes. Great option if you've done Bruge before or if you just want an easy going walk around a nice seaside town. (This is also the place to get the train if you are making your own way to Bruge)
