Saymyname Posted October 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2014 Hopefully this info can be passed on to any one planing to cruise the Island Princess in an aft mini suite. Just returned from The Panama Canal on Sunday Oct 12,2014. Cabin C705 is horrible, do not book it!!! It vibrates and shakes consistently + there is a clanging noise in the walls, It was a 15 day cruise I did not get a restful sleep, I did take 1/2 sleeping pill and used ear plugs every night.. slept about 3 hours. I brought it to the attention of the front desk cruise staff by note, the very first 2 days....ship was full.. could not be moved... Please do not book C 705 Possibility that D705 has the same problem WARNING!!!
5326jan Posted October 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2014 We did the full transit of the canal on the Island Princess in Cabin D705 and the only time we felt the thrusters was when the ship was maneuvering into berth at ports. Our mini-suite was excellent and had a covered balcony, which we enjoyed for the shade it provided. :)
Corfe Mixture Posted October 19, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2014 Last Christmas / New Year we were in C704 which is almost directly opposite C705 and we experienced no problems whatsoever.
Rare PurpleHays Posted October 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2014 We've booked C616 and I hope we don't feel any of this. The only ship I ever felt anything on was the Epic and it wasn't too bad. Mostly in and out of ports.
ShelbysMom Posted October 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2014 We were in D724 on the Island and also had a hard time sleeping on nights when we were moving at full speed. I won't book that far back on that ship ever again.
DrivesLikeMario Posted October 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2014 We've booked C616 and I hope we don't feel any of this. The only ship I ever felt anything on was the Epic and it wasn't too bad. Mostly in and out of ports. We just had C-604 a couple months ago. No unusual noises and I'm one who notices noises since I rarely sleep well.

Rare hllwdcruiser Posted October 20, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) For our Alaska cruise in June, we are booked in E736 on the Coral - last cabin aft with a fully covered balcony. I thought this was a great choice and was super excited about the aft views until I started reading reviews of horrible noise (slamming door to aft viewing deck) and vibration. We still have plenty of time to change. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Edited October 20, 2014 by hllwdcruiser
Travel_Maven Posted October 20, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 20, 2014 I'd like more information also! My family has booked an aft suite and 2 aft mini-suites (including C705) on the Coral for Alaska based on positive reviews...including good feedback from my brother who had an aft suite on the Island a couple of years ago. Sure don't feel like changing everything now!
Saymyname Posted October 20, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted October 20, 2014 I'd like more information also! My family has booked an aft suite and 2 aft mini-suites (including C705) on the Coral for Alaska based on positive reviews...including good feedback from my brother who had an aft suite on the Island a couple of years ago. Sure don't feel like changing everything now! Here is a copy of the email I sent to Princess last week: Come Back New After my 10th cruise (4 with Princess) I can't agree with your slogan. 15 days of no sleep , unless I was drugged by 1/2 sleeping pill and ear plugs (I would get about 2 1/2 - 3 hours of sleep a night) We had vibrations and shaking all night along with clanging and pounding in the walls.. I have video... I just watched it because I cant believe how awful my 15 day (nights) were Lets start with the excitement of going on a Panama Canal cruise... and end it with quarantined in my cabin with the flu on the last night. I think my resistance was down because I didn't get ANY rest~ I'm not a sick person~ I have lots of energy. The first night I laid awake...with my bed vibrating. I counted 2 vibrates and then a shake (repeat). Clanging in the wall, I wrote a note to the front desk, Same thing second night 2 vibrates and then a shake...noise in wall, I wrote my 2nd note. August called from the front desk (??) .. he sent guys up to our cabin to place little brackets where the wall and ceiling meet... It helped a tiny bit. He also let me know the ship was full and no extra cabins. One night (3 am) there was an emergency medical call that sounded in all cabins, I didn't hear it because I had taken a sleeping pill and had my ear plugs in...very scary because it could have been an evacuation or fire. Nothing I could do about it.. I tried sleeping on the sofa, on the FLOOR in front of the bathroom.. Also I had brought an air blown chair, I tried to sleep on that...I spent some nights in the bathroom reading.. Every part of the cabin vibrated, you could see my clothes vibrating, the water in the water bottles sitting on the table just vibrating. Impossible to get any rest. I asked a few other guest (new friends) no one seem to have the horrible vibrating issue our cabin had. The 2nd week... I happened to walk by the Membership desk to asked about my next status. We only need 3 more cruise days to become PLATINUM . Bernadette Vaziri was so friendly we starting chatting... I mentioned the vibrations in my cabin and she starting typing an email... I didn't tell her so she would do anything we were just talking....Somehow the message got to Malcolm Peterson Customer Service Director.... He also said the ship was full but recommended a few places I could rest during the day.... ( Malcolm, August and Bernadette get A+++) We continued to enjoy the cruise and ports the best we could.. finally my luck ran out.. The last day of the cruise I ended up in Medical ...weak, exhausted, coughing diagnosed with the flu, quarantined in my cabin...and escorted off the ship Sunday Morning @ 6:50 am.. We had plan to disembark after 9:30 because our flight wasn't until 3pm... we ended up at FLL~ 2 1/2 hours earlier, sick with our luggage that couldn't be checked until noon. We did get a good will gesture credit.. not nearly close to what that horrible cabin gave us. Needless to say I didn't "Come Back New"
