BassettMom Posted October 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2014 Are there restrictions on bringing vanilla into California? I know CA is pretty strict on bringing food items into the state. I'd like to buy some on my Tahiti cruise, but not if it will be confiscated.

RZ3 Posted October 20, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2014 Don't declare it as agriculture or seeds. The customs agents will scratch their heads and ask you why you need vanilla beans.
kiwimum Posted October 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2014 Do your homework before you leave. I checked Amazon for pricing and quality. Ended up not buying in Papeete or Bora Bora as the quality was lacking (read the labels closely), and expensive.
