IdRathrBCruzn Posted August 19, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2005 Is it possible while in Papeete to get a surfing lesson? I've never surfed before, but have always wanted to. I'll be doing a back-to-back on the PG and wondered about trying out the surfing on the middle Saturday. Perhaps there is not a suitable beach as I've read surfing is treacherous in Tahiti due to the shallow corals. But, if you know of any possible opportunities for a first lesson, please let me know. Thanks.
HaloV Posted August 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2005 I can't recall ever seeing anyone surfing. I have been twice. They do a lot of wind surfing.
IdRathrBCruzn Posted August 22, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted August 22, 2005 Thanks HaloV. Now that I think about it, I've wanted to try windsurfing as well!
calikak Posted August 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2005 I've read that there is good surfing in Tahiti and was also thinking about taking a lesson (although I hear it's exhausting, and I'm pretty lazy :D). This website has some info about it: http://www.papeete.com/todo/watersports.html#surf
IdRathrBCruzn Posted August 23, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Thanks for the website! I'll check it out. I too am a bit lazy... It's really my travel companion who wants to try surfing, not me!
calikak Posted August 23, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2005 If you do go, let us know how it is, so I can decide if I'm too lazy for it. :D
