cassamanda Posted October 26, 2014 #27 Share Posted October 26, 2014 Do you now pick up your luggage before passport control in Sydney? No. Luggage has and still is after you go through the immigration/passport area. As is duty free. Couldnt imagine trying to get through those scanners with all the luggage and duty free:eek: Quarantine inspection is immediately after luggage carousel and often in morning peak the lines are so long that they wrap around the carousels. Thats when they often collect your declaration card and customs card and send you straight through to the outside word.:)

Bodogbodog Posted October 26, 2014 #29 Share Posted October 26, 2014 (edited) Do you now pick up your luggage before passport control in Sydney? No - customer/immigration first then baggage collection I agree, declare anything you may think needs to be declared and tell or show the customs officer who usually directs you to a quicker exit I agree - declaring things can often mean a faster exit if they're "low risk" items like commercial food Edited October 26, 2014 by Bodogbodog
Plant Posted October 27, 2014 #30 Share Posted October 27, 2014 The form we filled out asked about wooden products and I ticked "yes" since we'd bought a painted wooden piece in Bora Bora before we got to Australia. I think the inspector was laughing to himself that we'd declared it, but I didn't want to be detained for NOT declaring it! He took a cursory look and let us proceed. IMO, better safe than sorry:).
