Long Beach questions

I really don't mean to sound rude, but your last couple of posts simply indicate that you haven't tried to read existing threads on the subjects you're asking about...

All kinds of thoughts on Long Beach Hotels, including the "it's cheap for a reason" bits...

Also the "San Pedro" thread has some bits about Long Beach... if you use the "Search This Thread" tool and skim through it, you'll find those good bits, too.

We're sailing out of San Pedro but considering staying in Long Beach. Does anyone have hotel recommendations that are close to restaurants etc.?

I'll make it very simple...Choose from this very list:

Hyatt Regency

Hyatt at the Pike

Renaissance

Westin

Those would be the top four...Best hotels, best locations (in approximately that order)...

B list:

Hilton

Residence Inn Downtown

Maya Doubletree

These three are not as near to restaurants and shopping...Maya and Residence Inn are across the channel near the Queen Mary and the Carnival Terminal...and there's a free shuttle to take you across...so, there's some benefit for Carnival cruisers, but not much for you...

So, I'd really recommend those first four.

Go here:

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=hotels+near+long+beach&hl=en&ll=33.765181,-118.190682&spn=0.006832,0.013883&sll=34.136214,-118.662694&sspn=0.108837,0.22213&t=h&hq=hotels&hnear=Long+Beach,+Los+Angeles+County,+California&fll=33.765582,-118.191111&fspn=0.006832,0.013883&z=17

You can see the location of those four hotels on this map...

Between the Hyatt Regency and the Hyatt at the Pike, you will see "The Pike" development with some restaurants (Auld Dubliner, Islands, Hooters, California Pizza Kitchen, etc. and shopping, entertainment...Across Shoreline Drive, you will see the Aquarium of the Pacific and a whole row of major restaurants along the marina...Bubba Gump, Chili's, Outback, PF Chang's, Gladstone's, Famous Dave's BBQ, Yardhouse, Tequila Jack's, Parker's Lighthouse...North on Pine Avenue, near the Renaissance, are several other restaurants including King's Fish House, Rock Bottom Brewery and more...

You're not rude at all & I find you to be one of the most helpful and patient on this forum. Yes I am being a tad lazy in not thoroughly searching the other threads. We will most probably be staying at the Crowne Plaza in San Pedro as our ship sails from there. Thanks for all your help.

Some interesting info about the use of abbreviations for Princess ships: CB does refer to the Caribbean princess and KP for the Crown Princess. If you want to check on any of the line's ships, you can go to the Princess website, go to "Learn about Princess," then click on "Cruise ships" on the pop down menu. You'll get a page listing each ship. If you then click on any of the ships, look at the website address line. After the third slash, the ship designation will be listed.
