I love the splendor. it is going out of Virginia. I have been looking at cruises from the east coast. looks like they only go to kings wharf and the prices are way out of line. { in my opinion}

Any idea why?

A rare 7 night Bermuda cruise from VA must have generated a lot of speculative groups holding balcony/suite space .

Check TA's and keep checking closer to sailing as unbooked space must be returned prior to final.

I'm afraid that the $$$ of this sailing will stay $$$ .

It appears that the balcony cabins and suites are sold out and only insides and ocean-views are available. That could indicate cabins held for group sales since it is so far out.

I see a lot of posts on the Internet though about how quickly this cruise was being booked. It will likely sell out early.

I suspect that one reason for the price of Bermuda cruises is that the casino stays closed while in port. Then, too, there aren't that many cruises that go there, so there's limited competition to keep prices down.

I believe the casino is actually open when docked in Bermuda.

Anyway, suites and balcony cabins have been sold out for weeks already. We had a TA in our Roll Call and she said her block of cabins went in days.

I don't think these are big bunches of cabins being held. I think they've actually sold.

I'm in a 1A and paying almost triple what my 4F cabin on the Splendor repo next week cost. It's crazy. And, of course, I can't get anyone to join me going to Bermuda so I have the honor of paying 200% of the ridiculous price (and it's gone way up since I booked in May).

It's a 1-time sailing to a place that Carnival rarely calls. Simple supply and demand. Extremely limited supply + high demand = high prices and sell outs.

Bermuda cruises are expensive. You can probably Google it and read about it. They charge very high port fees. Bermuda isn't interested and being inundated with thousands of cruise-ship passengers daily.

So, if you want to sail to Bermuda and you want to do so on Carnival, you don't have much choice. I thought about cancelling and changing to the Pride sailing, but it isn't as appealing as the Splendor sailing. Even if I wanted to switch to the Sunshine sailing, I can't because of work deadlines. And I'd have to fly, where I can drive to Norfolk the morning of sailing (probably will drive up early).

I did the 1-time Glory to Bermuda cruise from Norfolk in October 2011. It was great, except we were only there 1-1/2 day, and there really wasn't time to go out exploring on the 2nd morning. That's why I booked this. We have three full days there this time.

It's going to be great. I just wish I could somehow squeeze in about 3 more cruises (on top of the two I'm taking soon) so Bermuda would be my Milestone. I sure could use the OBC!
