Stateroom attendants dishonesty

OP said the room steward didn't remove everything. Possibly it was one of the ones left in there.

 

Then I would say that the attendant didn't really "deserve" extra gratuity.

 

If I ask that the mini bar is cleared out, they do a half job of it - including leaving someone's half drunk, open can in the fridge - and then putting minibar charges (and for $9.50 there would have been at least a couple of things listed as "taken") on my account where I've asked for the minibar to be emptied because I am not using it - I wouldn't be tipping extra.

I'm NOT taking sides but just asking a question.....

 

Why would the steward open a can of soda to "earn a little extra"? Does he get paid every time we open a can of soda? Let's say he got 15% of a $3.00 soda. That's 45 cents.

 

Let's say he went full gangster and did it to 10 rooms.

 

He'd make $4.50 - and risk his job.

 

Not sure if he'd do that?

Maybe I am wrong but mini bar charges never applied right away on bill. Takes some time + don’t you need to sign bill ? In all our cruises they will leave us a copy to sign for mini bar items we used .Is it different on X ?

I don't ever remember signing for mini bar items on RC or X.

I was on the Silhouette from October 4 to October 18, 2014. I had three things from the mini bar, and was left a receipt to sign for each item. The amount did not show on my account until the attendant had retrieved the signed receipt.
