Passport question..

So the other half going on an upcoming cruise.. As in 31 days away. Just looked at their passport and it is expired! The expedited renewal was mailed out today. Do you all think it will be returned before we cruise?

As I recall that service is 14 days turn around. I renewed ours (regular service) this year, we had the new ones in less than 3 weeks.

If doing a closed loop cruise only need BC and gov't picture ID.

Only took about 10 days to receive new passport (not renewal).

Not sure where you are located? In Ontario ours take 7-14 days if taken to the passport office in Whitby.

The state dept website says that as of yesterday expedited are taking 2-3 weeks and non expedited are taking 4-5 weeks. I know cause I just checked cause I sent in three applications this week.

Doesn't really matter what anyone here thinks, it is going to be processed the way it is going to be processed. Yours could be the one that takes extra time for some reason, who knows.

 

Best advice that I can give (if you are US citizens) is to make sure that you know where the birth certificate is or order another copy so you have it available to use in conjunction with a government issued photo ID (of course pre-supposing that you are on a closed loop cruise).

I sent my renewal in on Oct 14 (non expedited) and my new passport was in my mailbox on Oct 27 and my passport card arrived 2 days later. I think you will be fine.
