Karysa Posted November 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2014 Due to the recent storms on Nov 7 and 8 the Nature Foundation has deemed Great Bay not safe to swim in. ( the Town beach) I just read this on line in the Daily Herald St. Maarten newspaper dated Nov. 13, 2014. Apparently Kim Sha beach was also not safe after the storm but has tested ok now. Karysa Posted November 14, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted November 14, 2014 This is actually old news .... nothing new for Great Bay. Well I know that and you know that but many people don't know that. ;) But seriously, recently the Nature Foundation had said that Great Bay tested ok for swimming in. Since it has now again been tested and once again failed that test I thought that I would pass this info on.
gtaylor Posted November 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2014 This is actually old news .... nothing new for Great Bay. Actually, this is NEW news, from yesterday's paper. There had been problems again after the hurricane and finally the Nature Foundation gave an 'all clear', but they've revised that after the recent flooding. I'd expect a new 'all clear' soon, but currently, as karysa posted' it is not recommended to swim in Great Bay. gary
