Two different cards for back to back

We will be doing separate bookings on two cruises which are back to back.

 

We have two credit cards, each with dollar limitations on trip cancellation insurance. If we pay for the cruises separately using different cards, would we be covered separately and thereby have greater coverage? Would this even be permissible?

What type of trip insurance are you looking at or are you just relying on insurance through your credit card.
