Car Rental After Cruise Arrival

Can anyone give me information on renting a car on our arrival in Boston. Can you rent a car at the port and return to the airport? Has anyone had any experiences with any of the rental car companies? They have some located there that I never heard of...........Payless, Firefly ????????

Both times that we have been to Black Falcon pier, we just got off of the ship and took a taxi to the airport to rent a car. Very easy.

I was also given a tip from TripAdvisor to take a taxi to a downtown rental location and the rates are even better there. I checked it out and found about a $100 difference for an identical car. Of course you have to consider the difference in taxi fares....................sooooo many things to consider. Thanks for your input.

We rent with a great discount from the car insurance company. :)

Another thing to consider, if you rent from a downtown location, the traffic is quite different than around the airport.

Also, for us, returning the rental to the airport is so simple as you then just hop on the free shuttle to the terminals.

...Just giving you something else to think about.

Many places, especially San Diego, charge a Airport Tax when renting from an airport location. In many cases this can be quite substantial. When getting a quote, make sure ALL taxes and charges are included.

Oh, yeah.....those hidden fees can really amount to a lot. Even when they add in the fees and taxes and give you a "Total Charge", they spring something else on you at the time.
