Great time on the Sovereign!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I can't believe it has already been a week since we got back from our weekend Sovereign cruise!! We had a fabulous time but, of course, it was way too fast!!! I forgot to ask for pictures on a CD when I dropped them off so I can't share any pictures with everyone. I'll see if my trusty scanner will work and try to add a picture later. I don't think I have a full length of my formal anyway--just an upper shot but, I loved it and it worked out great! The Sovereign does seem to be a little "lower key" and many people were wearing non formal type dresses on formal night. I saw lots of capris on the other two nights. I wore dresses all three--love to dress up!! There was even a man in jean shorts on formal night--right next to the captain's table. Anyway, we looked great and had much fun! Of the ten in our group (was supposed to be 12 but two couldn't go at the last minute --the day before), six of them were new to cruising. They are already making plans for next years cruise--I guess they are hooked. DH and two of our friends are now hooked on Banana-ranas--they had a couple in the big "yard" cups!! Ok,
I did it--through the scanner and webshots, I was able to put up a few of the pictures--didn't do all because it isn't that fun doing them one at a time on the scanner. Anyway, here are three.

Ok, maybe I have it now. The above link is the wrong one. I hope this is the right one. Not that anyone wants to look by now! LOL

 • 1 month later...
Hi wanta,
I know this is an older thread but Im going on the Sovereign for a 3 day next month and Im really stressing about the formal night. How dressy do the women get on this short cruise. Your dress was beautiful but were you in the majority? I purchased a floor length dress thats kind of shimmery but reading some of the posts Im afraid I might be overdressed. Anyone else reading that has been on the 3 day sovereign feel free to comment as well.
Thank you

hi:) I was on the Sovereign last summer..wow, it was one year ago...THIS week:eek: .

Everyone has their own style...and I love to get dressed up...but I will give you one person's opinion...I didn't think that cruise was dressy at all. Now, there were a few ladies in long gowns, cocktail dresses were more the majority and many outfits that on most 7 day cruises that fit in the "informal category" ~ to me.
As the original poster pointed out...they got formally dressed and that is perfectly acceptable...it is after all "formal night". Now, it has been a year since I was on the ship...but I didn't wear the same "formal clothes" for the one dressy dinner as I would on a 7 nighter.
I felt very appropriate in my outfits....the dressier one is a pants suit...It is silk..top is red and black...Oriental style...mandarin collar long sleeves...solid black slacks. With black heels and nice jewelery.
I would normally wear that on an "informal night" on a 7 day cruise. I know another outfit was a pretty skirt and blouse.....and I cannot remember what I wore for the 3rd dinner... it was a year ago LOL.

Anyway......just my thoughts.....I thought I fit in very well....and there were others much more dressed down than I was...and some more dressed up too.
I hope this helped you more than confusing you!

Thanks. Im just still so undecided. I purchased a beautiful long gown at a consignment shop for 30.00 but after reading the sovereign comments I started getting afraid that I would be too dressed up.

I didn't mean to sound like long dresses were not worn...they were....If you bought a new dress and want to wear it...I would tell you to "GO FOR IT:D .

I just remember it being not nearly as formal as a 7 night or longer cruise.
