Received upgrade email - can't get response when I call

Hi everyone,

I received an email a couple hours ago about the possibility of upgrading our cabin.

I have left a message at the number provided in the email but have not received a call back. I've called several more times and keep getting voicemail. It looks like she only works until 6 today.

What can I do? I would like the chance to hear about the offer and see if it works for us!

Thanks!

For my Conquest cruise in April they called and I missed it - I was able to call back and use option 4 (already booked) and explain to the CSR I missed the call. She was able to give me the upgrade offer by looking at the notes. I didnt take them up on it - as it was insanely high.

Then for our cruise 11/29 on the Paradise I got a call from a specific "upsale specialist" or something. I called her back like 17,000 times that Friday night. Then Sat, Sun, Mon her extension went directly to voicemail. I again tried the CSR route but the notes said I had to talk to the one upsale lady - she was out sick according to her manager. I'm not sure why the manager couldn't tell me the offer - but I waited an agonizing four days!

Try the customer service route - otherwise, just ask them to find the manager of the specific department to identify why you can't get a return call.

Good luck!

Do you have a PVP? Your PVP should be able to help you. If you do not know your PVP's name and extension, look in one of the email promotions that Carnival sent you in the past. His/her name and contact info usually shows in those emails.

Thanks everyone!

I don't believe I have a PVP. I talk to someone new every time I call. How do I get one? Do I just keep calling someone I've worked with and liked.

As for yesterday... I ended up replying to the email and explained that I had been trying to get back in touch. She called me almost immediately after that and explained the deal. We played a bit of phone tag while I consulted with my husband.

In the end.....it was a deal that we loved. We started out in an interior, moved to an oceanview after a price drop. After yesterday's deal we are in a grand suite!!!

I was fine with the original interior and the price I paid....and would have been content to stay there. We'd never done an interior and wanted to see if we could be happy in one. It's ironic that we'll now be in the largest cabin we've ever had! :)

Same happened to me! Congrats! What ship/sailing?

If you have a Carnival PVP no one else from Carnival should ever call you. Except to notify you of itinerary or time changes.

This is not true. If it is an upsell it will come from a different department and you may get a call from someone other than your PVP.

Not actually correct....CCL also has an "upsell" department completely independent of your PVP who makes calls to "upsell" higher catagory cabins closer to sailing time. They are called "Stateroom Sales Specialists"....PVP's do not make these calls. So yes, you can receive calls from others at CCL!

Go to the Carnival site and at the bottom, click on "Contact Us". Tell them you want an "experienced PVP". I did that and the next day I got an e-mail from one that has been with Carnival for over ten years. So far, he's been great.

Thanks everyone,

When we are ready to book again I'll try to get my very own PVP. :) Hopefully we've worked out everything for this trip. I will say that everyone I've spoken with so far has been very helpful.

It was a "Stateroom Sales Specialist" that called.

We're on the Ecstasy on 12/8. I know it's an off week to travel but I'm starting to wonder if anyone else is going!

What a happy ending! Enjoy your grand suite. I hope you have a wonderful cruise. :)

Normally Carnival will automatically assign a PVP to everyone who has sailed with them in the past. You may have one and not know it. But you are always free to book by calling their regular 800 number if you prefer to do that. If you get any emailed or printed promotions from Carnival, you might find the PVP's name and extension on those.

But the upsell fairy that calls or emails you with an offer to upgrade your cabin prior to sailing is not a PVP; however, your PVP should be able to read any notes that have been placed on your booking by others. Some PVPs are better than others.

I hope you'll come back after your cruise and tell us about your grand suite!

You are correct, there was someone who had contacted us several times during the past few years since our last cruise (2011). We were waiting for our first child to turn 2 before we cruised again and then had another child....who is now 2. :) After taking a 9 month old we knew we wanted to wait until both were old enough for Camp Carnival.

When booking this cruise a few months ago I did try to call him (the person I assume is our PVP) but did not receive a response. I wonder if perhaps he is no longer with Carnival.
