ES/Price Drop/35-hour sale ??

I just read a thread about price drops and I feel really stupid right now, but could someone really dumb down this price drop/ES thing for me. I booked ES (a long time ago) and check frequently. With this price drop thing, when doing a mock booking, is it the 35-hour sale pricing I should be choosing? It says that rate is letting Carnival choose your stateroom. Would I then lose my cabins that I already booked, or will I keep mine because I have ES? I'm sorry, I hope I am making sense. I just would really like to take advantage of this if possible. We have 4 cabins booked and would save a little over $700 with the 35-hour sale. TIA!!

My understanding is that if you price match to the sale where Carnival picks your cabin, then yes, you will have to abide by those conditions and give up your cabins.

Whatever you price match to must be for the same catagory and cabin as you have already booked.

You'll save the $700 if you're willing to give up your cabins, and switch to a GTY rate code. If the money is more important than your cabin location on the ship, go for it!

You're not supposed to be able to price match with ES to GTY rate code. Call Carnival - ya never know! Good luck!

Sent from my phone. Typos are inevitable.

With Early Saver, you cant price match to any "sale" where Carnival assigns the cabin (a guarantee category) and expect a refund or OBC while keeping your existing cabin assignment. Easy Peasy.

Early Saver does not allow you to price match to a rate that is for a guarantee cabin, so the 35 hour sale can't be price matched to. You still have an option though if you wish to cancel your current Early Saver booking and rebook. In that case, Carnival charges a $50 per person fee to cancel the Early Saver booking. So you have to decide if it is worth it depending on how much the savings comes to and whether you're willing to give up your cabin. If you have any other incentives on your current booking such as an onboard credit or casino cash, you would also lose those if you cancel and rebook.

I was able to do the price match.....but do not have the choice of the room i want...I am fine with that.....they said I can continue to price match until I am assigned a room.

I would call carnival....and also decide which is more important...location on the ship or the money.

I just took advantage of the 35 hour sale. We were ES in a 4K. I gave up our room for a balcony room(gty) and some obc. I could have downgraded to an interior room and had almost $700 in obc. No cancellation fee.

However, first call to Carnival they said no could not be done due to my final payment already being made, but tried again and the second call was the kicker!!

That's not completely true. Carnival will allow you one time only to give up your ES rate and go into the guarantee pool without having to rebook and pay fee. You have to give up your cabin and are no longer eligible for price drops after you enter the guarantee pool. Just did this tonight for a friend's cabin.

That's how they screw you with Early Saver. Quit booking ES

Sent from my HTC One mini using Forums mobile app

If you understand the terms of Early Saver and how it can work to your personal advantage, there's no screwing involved.

The problem is with those who don't understand the terms and book under it anyway.

Thanks everyone for the help! I will fully admit that I did not understand ES like I should have when I booked. This is my first cruise with Carnival, and I had no idea what it was. I know to look closer when booking a rate with Carnival now.

I would really love to save the $700 that we would by switching, but since our kids (11 & 9) are in an interior across the hall from our balcony, we can't really do the gty. Thanks again for all the help!!
