I looked at the 35 hour sale for my sailing which is March 21, 2015. It said OV is 285 pp...it was 339 pp when I booked and I paid the 8.50 extra pp per day for scenic OV...I was denied the price drop..is it because I have the scenic OV? I do have early saver...

You can give up your cabin and be put into the guaranty pool. If you don't mind where your cabin is, you can switch from ES to GTY. No going back once you've done it though. If you want to do this, call them.

I just did this with the 35 hour sale. I called my PVP, we discussed it, then he did it for me.

OP if you are willing to go give u your scenic ov and go into the guarantee pool where Carnival picks your room, then you can do that. Otherwise, you likely can't match to that specific room category because it is sold out. So either give up that room as this sale is for carnival assigned cabins only, or keep what you have.

I talked to my PVP 3 times yesterday and to drop the GTY cabin I now have been assigned and go back in to GTY pool to get the better price from the Halloween sale I would have to pay fees that come to more than the new discounted price.... Also all the cabins showing in my category are up a deck under the kitchen so not a good trade off...I will never do the GTY thing again.

This is correct. I also did this yesterday; gave up my 4K cabin and went into the balcony GTY pool, and will get $170 OBC

I am booked ES (and have had $540 worth of drops already) and in a spa balcony, I would assume even if i saved $ going to a gty sale I would not be guaranteed of a spa balcony but just a balcony, is that correct? and if i want a spa balcony with spa access I should just stay put?

A scenic ocean view and an ocean view are different categories.

To receive credit for a price drop the drop must be for your category. Scenic ocean views are 6J and 6K cabins. There are only six scenic ocean view cabins on the ship. All of the other ocean view cabins are 6A – 6F.

I received $60 in on board credit yesterday. Carnival is still giving them.

That is correct. If you go into a balcony guarantee, then you are only guaranteed a balcony. Could be the lowest category, or it could be the highest. If your heart is set on the Spa, leave things the way they are.

This is why Carnival's advertised "low price guarantee" associated with booking Early Saver isn't really a guarantee at all. It's just another way that Carnival plays the pricing game to deny price drop requests.

There's nothing sneaky about the low price guarantee. It clearly states that it's the "lowest price with cabin assignment." I like to pick my cabin, and I've gotten plenty of price drops keeping the cabin I picked.

We just received $434.40 on an 8D, Freedom 2/2/15 sailing. Had just paid off the cruise so we received OBC.

Using this website is the quickest/easiest way to check your exact room category:

http://www.carnival.com/bookingengine/fareviewer#

Keep in mind that if you book a category that has a very limited number of cabins in the category - odds of price drops are very low. One cruise we were in a cabin that there were only 2 in the category - once both were sold out even though the base price for the type of cabin dropped, we were no longer eligible because our category did not drop.

(check daily or even twice a day - you never know what you may find!)

For our upcoming 8 night sailing on the Conquest I have chosen our favorite Lido balcony location and though the savings is enticing, I can't risk losing our cabin. We have already had $740 in price drops and final payment is in January. I'll hope for additional drops for that category or be very happy with having the room that we want at an even better price than I booked.

Thanks guys for the help and not flaming me to shreds...I just can't keep up with the fares and what's acceptable for each fare! Last time I booked my previous cruse they did Casino rate and I lost out on 555$ OBC and when I called today before I'd seen your responses the lady said if I wanted to give up my Scenic OV cabin I could have $ 388 OBC..but I don't want to give that up. I am really beginning to detest the way Carnival handles rates. I can never catch a break with them...but I want to say sincerely thank you so much for your help as well as your kindness guys.
