RIO - Taxi/Car Service from Cruise Terminal to GIG Airport

There are threads regarding the availability, safety, & costs of transportation from GIG airport to the cruise terminal. However, we need the reverse - from the Cruise terminal to GIG on February 18 around 5:00 PM. The private tour that we are a part of will drop off the other passengers back at the ship, and then take us to the airport. However, the charge (for 2 of us including luggage) is $110 US, which seems VERY VERY high.

 

I am concerned that at that time of day (5:00 PM there won't be the usual large array of taxis, etc.)

 

What alternatives are there, and at what cost?? Is it both safe and reliable??

For comparison, fare for a regular yellow taxi from the pier to the airport should be about R$40-50 (U$20 or less at today's exchange rate) with normal traffic.

I would have them drop you off at the airport, particularly if it will cut down on time because of traffic.
