Dining & rental car - 2 nights pre-cruise in January

Is there a restaurant near Port Everglades where you can watch the ships sail away?

Also, we are thinking about renting a car for the day while we're in Fort Lauderdale. We'd prefer just renting for the day and not overnight. What would be the best option for doing so? We're staying 2 nights pre-cruise and will have all day Sunday before sailing on Monday. We're staying at a Best Western. Would the best option be to take a shuttle to the airport & rent from there?

No restaurants where you can watch the ships sail away. Either the beach or the top of the 17th Street Bridge are the two best places.

Which Best Western? If it is the one on the beach, you can cab, trolley, and water taxi it around if you don't want to drive.
