justaknucklehead Posted August 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Unfortunately, smoking is not even permitted in bars or restaurants in NYC, so I'm certain, it would include the airport.

groovy gran Posted August 23, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted August 23, 2005 thanks for answers. did not realise ny had ban in public places. they are trying to get one in uk as well. never mind perhaps she can pop outside. it will do her good not to smoke for at least 13 hours. thanks again. happy cruising:rolleyes:
gkm Posted August 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Maybe you could get her some of that nicorette gum to help her with the cravings while on the flight. Otherwise, she'll probably be climbing the walls before you get to your destination. Garry
kenandlaura06 Posted August 23, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Can you even smoke in any airport now?
justaknucklehead Posted August 23, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Yes, Philadelphia airport you can smoke in bars. I believe you can still smoke in Atlanta in the bars but can't really confirm that.
GottaLuvCruising Posted August 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Smokers can even light up in restaurants in the Pittsburg airport. We took our food to-go and went to a smoke-free area to eat.
raerae Posted August 23, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2005 In our Pittsburgh airport some of the restaurants have a smoking section. There are also non-smoking sections that are away from the smokers. Cindy ;)
Happy ks Posted August 23, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2005 A heavy smoker friend of ours uses a product called Commit and swears by it. It's not cheap (but neither is smoking!) and she can use it anywhere, it looks like a breath mint.

With a two hour layover, she can perhaps head outside but make sure she takes all ID and tickets with her as she will need to clear security again. The only airport I know on the east coast that is smoking is in Charlotte - I smoke, but I would go outside rather that go in that room - it is nasty. :(
