smoking in newyork airport

hi i know this is not really a cruise question but hope you can help.

we are flying to sanjuan changing at newyork where we have a 2hour stopover.

my dd is very nervous about flying but luckly she enjoys cruising more.

anyway as she smokes<filthy habit i no but she is 40> she wondered if there is a place to smoke in ny airport.

i no you cant smoke in miami ap but the last time we were in orlando ap you could.

we are cruising on empress from sanjuan.

Unfortunately, smoking is not even permitted in bars or restaurants in NYC, so I'm certain, it would include the airport.

did not realise ny had ban in public places.

they are trying to get one in uk as well.

never mind perhaps she can pop outside.

it will do her good not to smoke for at least 13 hours.

Maybe you could get her some of that nicorette gum to help her with the cravings while on the flight. Otherwise, she'll probably be climbing the walls before you get to your destination.

Can you even smoke in any airport now?

Yes, Philadelphia airport you can smoke in bars. I believe you can still smoke in Atlanta in the bars but can't really confirm that.

Smokers can even light up in restaurants in the Pittsburg airport. We took our food to-go and went to a smoke-free area to eat.

In our Pittsburgh airport some of the restaurants have a smoking section. There are also non-smoking sections that are away from the smokers.

A heavy smoker friend of ours uses a product called Commit and swears by it. It's not cheap (but neither is smoking!) and she can use it anywhere, it looks like a breath mint.

Hi, New York airports have been non-smoking for quite a while. With a two hour layover, she can perhaps head outside but make sure she takes all ID and tickets with her as she will need to clear security again.

The only airport I know on the east coast that is smoking is in Charlotte - I smoke, but I would go outside rather that go in that room - it is nasty. :(

perhaps i will try commit if we can get it in uk.

at least i can smoke in heathrow before we fly.

thats if we havnt banned it there by then.

still who nos i may have managed to give up by then.
