Alcohol in duty free on Epic

I'll be taking a b2b on the Epic in February and it was suggested to me that I could buy a bottle of alcohol in the duty free shop during the first week and it would be returned to me at the end of the first week so I could drink it the second week (vs them keeping it the full 2 weeks I'll be on the ship). Does anyone remember how much bottles of rum and gin go for at the on board duty free? And would it be cheaper to pick up something in one of the ports?

It appears that people usually get their stuff at the end of the first cruise, and then of course can just keep it. Really surprised they have not figured this one out.

 

As to bottles you buy ashore, and they hold it for you. No idea if that goes through the same process or not.

 

The prices onboard must be decent since so many people buy it.

Any booze purchased off ship is held in different location were as the booze purchased on board is usually picked up the night before in the store.

 

If u choose to break the rules and drink on board is up to u.

On our B2B in 2011 they figured it out:mad:. Might have had something to do with the first cruise having duty-free available and the second one did not (all EU ports).

 

We were looking forward to a few cheaper snifters on the balcony;).:mad:
