Passport for Bahamas

There is no rule that I am aware of that requires a US citizen to have a 6-month date left on the passport.

That extra time is recommended, if you should be injured and hospitalized for a long period.

For the Bahamas, a passport is not even required (but recommended).

The six months left on your passport conversation that comes up on occasion is because there are many countries that require that for visitors. Here is a good link that will allow you to see if the country you are visiting has that requirement.

Note that the "six month rule" does not always apply to cruise ship passengers depending on the specific country. Clear as mud, right? :D

Do you have to have a passport to board ship? Hubby's passport is expired and I was looking at a mid Dec cruise to Bahamas but not enough time to get a new one

He would love to get out of the doghouse I put him in over this :D

The answer is no. Look under NCL's frequently asked questions for documentation requirements.
