monkeybone Posted November 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Hi I'm going on the BA Dec 28th, My passport expires February 2015. I thought I read someplace that needs not to expire within 6 months. Is that ok? or does I need to get a new one ASAP? Any info would be great. Thanks
computerworks Posted November 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2014 There is no rule that I am aware of that requires a US citizen to have a 6-month date left on the passport. That extra time is recommended, if you should be injured and hospitalized for a long period. For the Bahamas, a passport is not even required (but recommended). Rare sparks1093 Posted November 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2014 You will be fine, there is no 6 month requirement in the Bahamas and your passport is valid for re-entry until the day it expires.

ColinIllinois Posted November 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2014 The six months left on your passport conversation that comes up on occasion is because there are many countries that require that for visitors. Here is a good link that will allow you to see if the country you are visiting has that requirement. http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/country.html Note that the "six month rule" does not always apply to cruise ship passengers depending on the specific country. Clear as mud, right? :D
cb at sea Posted November 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Cruise passengers don't need a passport at all for the "Caribbean" routes...or the Bahamas.
computerworks Posted December 1, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2014 Cruise passengers don't need a passport at all for the "Caribbean" routes...or the Bahamas. That is only true for U.S. citizens...
