Would appreciate specific information for the Crown and Star on what open deck areas are available for smoking. We want to obey the rules and the information will help us in cabin selection. Thank you.

On the Crown, there are three open deck places where you can smoke. My favorite is deck 16 aft, outside of Adagio's. It has tables and chairs and faces the wake. Great views! Then, there's deck 16 forward next to a bar. There's also a small section, port side, on deck 7, Promenade deck, aft.

Just off the Star (11/14 - 11/24). We noticed that a smoking area which had been in use when we cruised Star in 2012 was no longer a smoking area. In 2012 the Port side "passageway" between the two Lido deck pools was a smoking area. The smokers didn't like it much as MUTS made a "sound tunnel" in that area so it was pretty loud. It definitely annoyed our son who was along on that cruise and who is a smoker.

We didn't pay a lot of attention to it on this last cruise but we did notice that the bar area by the aft pool (the little one all the way aft) was definitely a smoking area. The bar is actually one deck up and overlooks the aft pool. Wonderful view of the wake and quick access to Horizon Court.

It's only half the deck, one side. Never bothered me on the other side.

Star:

Outdoors

A small section of the starboard side promenade deck all the way aft just before it narrows to go around the stern of the ship. Horizon Terrace, deck 14, port side and I believe the same area just above it on deck 15. Possibly a small section next to the Tradewinds Bar, port side, on deck 15. If I remember correctly there might be an additional smoking area on deck 15, port side. Go to deck 15, walk aft as far as you can go past The Conservatory and I think there may be some cigarette disposal containers attached to the bulkhead there. I have also seen some smoking at the Oasis Pool area, Deck 16 aft, but don't know if this is an 'official' smoking area.

Indoors:

Shooter's Bar, deck 6 forward, this is the only designated cigar & pipe area. Casino which is smoke free some days. A section of Skywalker's late night after 9:30. Skywalker's is smoke free during the day.

No smoking in cabins or on balconies.

Thank you for your comments/information Thrak, Shredie, and sknight. From this thread and the smoking thread I have the information needed for the Crown. I do have a list for the Star but it is not as extensive.
