Choosing a line to sail Southern Caribbean with 3 boys 8-10

We've sailed on Disney and Royal Caribbean before. I really want to do a seven night cruise out of San Juan to the southern Caribbean next winter but don't know what line/ship is the best for us.

Are there certain ports that I should put on my "must-see" list?

Should we pay the extra (about double) for Disney since the kids are with us, or does it not matter as much since both do a good job and the trip is really port-heavy?

How are the Adventure and the Jewel at kids activities? Those seem to be the two ships on RC that go out of San Juan. We'd be going during the school year.

I would choose Adventure over Jewel, although any ship will suffice. You do NOT need to pay the Disney price to have a great, family friendly cruise!

As far as the ports, get a guidebook, and learn something about where you're going....that way, you'll be sure to do the things you really want to do, and will find that you probably don't need to pay those hefty excursion prices...most things are simple (and cheaper) to do on your own! A bit of research can save you big $$!

Disney does it better than any line for the family with children similar to those of your boys but it all comes down to budget and you can still have a great time on the other ships ou mentioned.

I don't see there being any can't miss ports. If you want to provide the list of ports for each itinerary we could offer some advice.

We loved the Jewel and Adventure with much younger kids. The adventure would probably be better for your group, but she was really showing her age (maybe has gone in since then tho?). Jewel is just stunning.
