Just booked Free cruise! Thank you casino!!

I just booked a "free cruise" for January 25th. On my previous cruises I didn't gamble, but I went on the Magic back in June, and I think I might have hit 2000 points. Most of that was because I won a little bit on the first night, but I also spent much more than I should have. I didn't get any comps while I was on the cruise, so I wasn't expecting this offer. I actually just lucked into this, as I don't pay attention to my emails and snail mail (although now I will!). I was pricing cruises when I noticed that some of the prices popping up were like $25 and $50! So, needless to say, I jumped on the offer., and booked an anniversary cruise for the hubby and me. When I called carnival, I was told that these were "casino offers."

I did upgrade to a balcony, but that was mere pennies! ($120, with $100 OBC). I'm so excited, I can't stand it!! The oddest part is, my step-mother was on the last cruise with me, and she spent twice what I spent, and was given wine and strawberries and all kinds of goodies on board, yet she didn't recieve the same offer. I'm befuddled.

So, will I be getting assigned a casino host like in land casinos? Should I email the players club, as suggested by some on these boards? Am I going to get less than par service on board since I'm not paying for the ride?

People on free cruises look no different from any other passenger, unless maybe you smile bigger than normal. There's really no way for them to treat you differently. Feel free to email casino@carnival.com and ask if you have any comps available for your upcoming cruise. And then check with the cashier in the casino once on board. People on free casino cruises usually get the standard, "This free cabin is your comp." Doesn't hurt to ask.

 

Oh, and you won't be assigned a casino host. There are usually 2 casino hosts on each ship. They generally award you stuff based on your points or on what the pit bosses tell them about your level of play. Otherwise you will probably never know who they are unless you ask to speak with one for some reason.

Ok, happy that you got the free offer. I am in the same boat. Just got off the Breeze last week and was given my 3rd free cruise.

 

Now, a bit of advise. You got the free cruise. Don't rub salt in the wound. Many people here have gone on many cruises, paid for all of them, played a lot in the casino and have never gotten a free cruise offer. Just don't expect to post it here and have everybody be all smiles and hugs for you. Best to just sit and smile on the inside.

 

Enjoy your cruise. You will knowing that you got it for a very small price. Congratulations.

Yeah, I understand that! That's why I'm kind of bewildered by the whole thing. Part of me is thinking this is too good to be true. Like I said, my step-mom spend way more than I did in the casino and she didn't get the offer. It's weird! Didn't mean to make anyone else feel bad!!

Hawk is right. I've got 25 Carnival cruises under my belt and no free cruise offers. I cruised on Holland America once in 2010 and got a sweet 7 day free cruise offer from them last week. It is insane and doesn't make sense.

 

I plan to enjoy my free HAL cruise and I hope you enjoy your free Carnival cruise. Hey, we take them where we can get them, right?!?

We have been getting "free" cruises for 5 years now from NCL. NCL at one time was owned by a conglomarate that also owned a casino chain, so they know a bit or two about how to make money off gamblers.

 

Carnival must have finally realized this as well, that getting gamblers on board with a comped cabin makes good business sense.

Me too! I booked the 100$ get 100$ OBC, also. Actually, I upgraded to a balcony for a whopping 120, total for 8 day cruse 400 and change. Yippee! I am ready to go, and we don't set sail for another 100 + days. lol All to ports I've never been to. Wonderful deal. Carnival, I love you!

Carnival must have finally realized this as well, that getting gamblers on board with a comped cabin makes good business sense.

NCL is owned by the same company that owns Caesars and I saw recently Carnival just started a program with Tropicana so that's a wonderful thing for gamblers as they know the comping system

Carnival has no system that I can see on comped cruises or comps in general for that matter. I have spent over 10K on a single cruise and the next one I had about $250 I think in casino cash and nothing else and our last cruise we barely gambled because of lack of comps and I think we may have spent $1000 between the two of us and we both got this offer. I booked an aft L shaped cabin for $120 each plus port charges and tax with $100 OBC

Been on 3 Carnival cruises gambled more than the fair all the times so did my wife and have never gotten any comps or offers. On my last sailing on the Glory the first night a guy next to be won like 200 bucks on a slot machine and they gave him a card to drink free in the casino the whole rest of the cruise.

 

I told the server, "I won 450 where's my card?" She just smiled and walked away.

 

I don't understand how they decide who to offer these things to? my SS bill was over 3k last cruise. Im not mad that other people are getting free cruises but I'd like some love too! Especially now that my wife and I are buying a house at the end of the month no money for cruising for the next couple of years :(
