mlogan177 Posted December 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2014 Hi. I'm currently booked on the breakaway in October 2015 on an aft balcony for my honeymoon. But with the new promo out I'm thinking of an haven aft balcony. Is it worth it since we are in port 3 days and the the price difference is 4600. My fiancée doesn't want the upgrade. I'm thinking of it only cause it is my honeymoon. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Da-Painter Posted December 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2014 Yes, for $4600 price difference, if your cruise is for 4 weeks. If not, no. Use that $4600 to book a few more cruises.;)
bbryan5 Posted December 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2014 I know that NO ONE is going to agree with what I'm going to say, but here goes; We did an AFT facing penthouse suite in October for our honeymoon. It was our 5th cruise, and first time in a suite. First of all, I didn't think the Aft balcony was any better than a regular midship balcony.. yes it was bigger, but the extra space wasn't really necessary. 2nd of all, I didn't think the suite perks were worth the extra money. Breakfast/lunch in Cagneys was cool, but not over the top. We didn't use the butler much either. Keep in mind, we are a young couple that was out from about 8am till 3am almost everyday, so for us we thought it wasn't worth the extra money since we don't spend much time in the cabin. The only reason we tried it was cause of the honeymoon. I just booked the Breakaway for May to Bermuda and we went back to a midship balcony. Hope this helps! :D:D

bbryan5 Posted December 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 20, 2014 Our last cruise we were never in our room either Exactly. I would definitely not spend the extra money on the suite. Some people love spending time in the cabins, for them its worth it, but if your gonna be out bar hopping and hitting the casino and stuff, its not worth it IMHO. Just noticed your from nj, i am too. ColinIllinois Posted December 20, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 20, 2014 Our last cruise we were never in our room either Sent from my iPhone using Forums Absolutely not then. Not for $4600 unless money is no object to you.
Love my butler Posted December 20, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 20, 2014 Will be a waste of money since while in Bermuda you will probably be off the ship the vast majority of the time.
Koshlong Posted December 20, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2014 What can they possibly provide that is worth $650 a day? Actually, on my honeymoon, we spent two days in our luxury hotel, decided we hated it, bought a tent, and went camping....so I obviously am not thrilled by deluxe. 3DBeach Posted December 20, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 20, 2014 The balcony would be amazing but that's a lot to spend if you wouldn't utilize the perks. I would spend the money on a nice souvenir (jewelry) or another cruise :) Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

garycarla Posted December 20, 2014 #13 Share Posted December 20, 2014 I will go along with many others. Maybe a few hundred bucks, but not that sort of money. After all, it is your honeymoon, not some special time where money does not mean anything. If you want to spend that sort of money, do some special activities in Bermuda. If you have enough money in the bank to buy a new home for cash, well... then what the heck.
teseo Posted December 22, 2014 #14 Share Posted December 22, 2014 You should consider getting a SPA HAVEN SUITE, is not as big as your AFT balcony but , first, get you into the haven, second you have your own hot tub inside your room and third, it give you full and free access to the SPA THERMAL SUITE for the whole week of your cruise, and is the less expensive way to get into the haven. your bride to be will love it, we had a spa balcony (which is a regular balcony with no hot tub) in out last BA cruise and we loved the free access to the SPA. some friends had the SPA SUITE and they loved it. check this video, is from the getaway but is the same since they are sister ships. he does amazing high quality videos, also check his review, if you want about the ship, you can skip the other sections. You won't be disappointed, specially your bride, nothing like having your private Jacuzzi during your honeymoon. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2104396&highlight=spaniel+lover
teseo Posted December 22, 2014 #15 Share Posted December 22, 2014 i forgot to mention the most important part, with the new NCL promo, if you get the haven spa suite you will get $300 OBC + UDP + UBP, which according with NCL is a $2000 package. you will be able to switch rooms because your sailing is more than 75 days, so it wont be a problem to cancel and rebook with no penalty. ImADaneFan Posted December 23, 2014 #16 Share Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) I'm going to go the other direction and say you might want to consider the Aft Haven Suite. We were in a deck 12 suite and the balcony is huge! We had 35 people on the balcony for sail away. It was wonderful to have all that space to ourselves, just to relax and hang out. Plus you also would have the Haven area. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app Edited December 23, 2014 by ImADaneFan
cantthinkofanythingfun Posted December 23, 2014 #17 Share Posted December 23, 2014 For that money you could stay on the ship and go again. The Haven is fantastic, but it really isn't worth the huge price difference that NCL charges, especially if you don't spend a lot of time in the room. You get a little bar, a little restaurant, a little pool, and 2 indoor hot tubs. The rooms are great, but it isn't like the regular rooms are flea bags. You also get some additional staff (whom carry a considerable gratuity if you're being fair). You'll get some chocolate covered strawberries, a bottle of champagne, a bowl of fruit avery day, and some canapés. Hardly worth the nearly 5 grand difference. If you have money to burn, or you get an amazing deal then maybe the Haven is worth it. I just got off the Breakaway and payed just under 6K for the 2 bedroom villa in the Haven for 4 people. I only booked it because they were sold out of adjoining rooms, and it really would have only been about 1200 more than 2 separate standard balcony rooms. Take that money and get the beverage and dining packages and do some awesome excursions. It will be a lot more memorable than having a butler.
