travelnut1 Posted December 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) I will be receiving a deposit to my bank account 1 day into my cruise (actually the Friday before we leave but I doubt it credits till Monday and we leave Sunday). I thought this would be here earlier so please disregard my other post. Is there a way to withdraw it on board? It would need to be accessed by using my debit card which I have read is a big no no and I will be providing the cruise line with a credit card but it only has a $1000 limit. I will need more than that for the excursions/spending we have planned. If so I would like to withdraw cash and make a payment at the pursers. Or can I make a payment with my debit card without it becoming "on file"? Is this doable or do I need to make other plans. epaul78 Posted December 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 29, 2014 There is an ATM in the casino that dispenses US dollars. I believe the fee is pretty high to use but you should be able to withdraw funds and apply to your onboard account.

Thank you, Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app It's been a while, but there should be an ATM on the Star. There is a fee ($4.00?) for a withdrawal. If you have access to an ATM from your bank on Friday/Saturday before your cruise, check and see if the deposit credited to avoid the on ship ATM fees. If you prepaid the daily service charge and watch your on-board spending, you should be fine with the credit card.

garycarla Posted December 29, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 29, 2014 Using your debit card for ATM is no big problem. The ATMs onboard are somewhat generic and usually not tied to any bank from what I have seen. Fee might be $5... which is terrible if you only take $100 or less. Not bad if you take out much more, like $1000 Most ships seem to have one near the front desk and one in the casino.
Budget Queen Posted December 29, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2014 Yes there are ATM's on all Carnival ships. I would also suggest, you may want to increase your credit card limit. Should be able to do so, by phone. In my opinion, $1000 is way too low. :)
travelnut1 Posted December 29, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted December 29, 2014 Thank you, I am taking out $1500 so $5-$10 is not a big deal for that amount :). I had more available on my credit card but just had $900+ vet charges for my elderly cat who we lost anyway :(. Still worth every penny to do what we could for him after 16 years of love. Thank you to everyone who replied, I appreciate your help. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
cssc123 Posted December 29, 2014 #10 Share Posted December 29, 2014 Suggestion for you: If you know your deposit is on Friday why not schedule a bill payment for while your gone. The cruise line will only hold 300 at first. So pre-book whatever excursions you can now. Then schedule a payment for Friday or Monday to the cc company in whatever amount. I have yet to find a credit card company who will not let you schedule a payment for an advanced date. Then you can save that 5 bucks (it's an extra drink!) thebeez628 Posted January 4, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 4, 2015 Yes! Just got off the Star this morning and there is indeed one fully functioning ATM in the Casino near the back, next to the cashier cage. It's open 24/7 and accessible even when the Casino is not open. The fee is $5.50 per transaction and you can withdraw as much as you like. That same ATM is also a bill breaker, so if the ATM give you $100's you can break that down into smaller bills using the same machine. Happy Cruising! :):):)
