August sailing from southampton - kids??

Hi.

We normally sail RCI but a couple of cruises have caught our eye for 2016. We have a 12 year old (will be 13 next year when we sail). Just wondered whether there are many kids on board. I know there isn't a flow rider or ice skating rink but our son never used that anyway. He has happy with a sports court, arcade and pool. (Does like the mini golf but believe celebrity don't have that?).

Would appreciate any feedback from people that have sailed with kids in August from southampton. We are looking at the eclipse.

Many thanks. :)

We are sailing next August on the Eclipse from Southampton with a 13 year old. We showed her all the options including other cruise ships and she preferred the look of Celebrity.

She is the sort of girl who would try some of the stuff aimed at teens but the novelty would soon wear off.

She knows there may not be as many teens on there but thinks that will be better as she may be able to enjoy.what is available more.

So can't tell you what it is like for a teen but can reassure you that there will be other similar minded teens cruising from Southampton :)

We are booked on the eclipse departing end of july with 2 girls who will be 16(just) and 17 when we sail. They have been to kids clubs but in the past have become bored with them as the main aim of the girls they met seemed to be to find boys and get served alcohol (they succeeded in neither much to my girls amusement) We are on a Baltic cruise and they are not bothered that there may be fewer children on board.

Thanks for your reply. My son has only cruised with royal Caribbean and just thinks they are the best!! He seems to think that there won't be any other kids on board as its a slightly more adult cruise line. But have told him it is smack in the middle of school holidays so there are bound to be other children. We are still looking at all the options but would really like to try celebrity for a change and have heard really good reports.

Have a great cruise hope she enjoys it!

We went to the Baltics a few years ago, on the Eclipse in August. I seem to remember that there were about 250 under the age of 18. Apart from a few South American boys, all seemed very well behaved with high amusement factor from the youth organisers.

It was good to see the International mix of youngsters being together, and very heartening to see the inclusion of one disabled child.

I hope you all have a great trip on this ship.

There will definitely be kids onboard just not as many as there are on Royal ;). Even this past July to Iceland on Infinity (not your usual kid friendly itinerary) there were kids of various ages, not so many under 8, but quite a few over 10s.

We've also sailed on Connie to the Baltics during the summer holidays and there were several children onboard. They may join the age groups together in the clubs if there are only a few children ;). Our kids love sailing X.

Thanks all for your replies. Going to definitely look into it.

Out of interest does anyone know what the aft balconies are like in eclipse. We have had them on royal and love the view of the wake. Do you still get that kinda view.

Thanks :)
