Just Off Pride...Amazing Cruise

We just got back from an amazing 7 days aboard the Pride! Here is a quick list of pros & cons...more review to follow!

Cabin--8275 Aft Facing Cabin. Wonderful cabin. No noise from the Serenity Deck which is right above it. Views are spectacular!

Food--We ate in the MDR every night and every morning except one. Very good menus. A couple of things really stood out--we loved the prime rib and the lobster (yes it's small, but my guys just ordered a couple each). Sea Day brunch was GREAT!!!! I wish I had taken advantage of the Suess Breakfast. It looked like a lot of fun but since my only child was 15...I wasn't sure they would have liked it as much as me :)

Entertainment--we only went to Hasbro and the 80' s show in the Taj Mahal. Hasbro was fun. 80's show was pretty good. Some singers were much better than others. We did do the adult comedy and family comedy. The first two comedians were better than the two at the end of the cruise. The first night of adult comedy was so funny, I was crying from laughing so hard!

Pools, Slide & Serenity Deck--my son & husband did the pools and slides. Loved the Green Thunder and the yellow slide. We went to Serenity and it was VERY nice. Biggest complaint--people who drop their towels and leave for HOURS and expect to come back to a chair. There were three bed cabanas on the Serenity that were used by towels only for the three hours I was there. I sincerely think that Carnival should do more about this -- at least on Serenity. There should be a better system. I think it is ridiculously RUDE of someone to drop a towel in a prime cabana bed and leave for three hours and expect to come back at your convenience and find the chair/bed still empty. Okay, enough of my rant :D

Staff--I found everyone on staff to be nice and informative. George was our Cruise Director. He was okay--a little snarky at times, but overall pretty good.

Cleanliness--I thought it was clean overall. We very rarely saw our cabin steward but our cabin was always cleaned, towel animals every night, and chocolates at turn down!

Ports--I will have an in-depth review on our ports, but I just wanted to say -- NOT ENOUGH TIME IN ROATAN, HONDURAS!!!!

So, just a quick start. If you have any questions about our cruise, just let me know!!!

I can't wait for your in depth review, we don't sail until March 2016 but I am eagerly devouring any Pride reviews I can find! We sailed on her in 2012 and had a great cruise, I can only imagine that the 2.0 upgrades made her even better!

Thanks for the update! We are going in three weeks. I agree there is never enough time in Roatan. We spent 10 days there last spring break.

I am on the Pride in 5 weeks, and been to Roatan probably 4X.....

What am I missing? I am not too fond of Roatan......

We did a private tour with Bodden Tours...private driver who took us all over the island and then to a cove with an amazing reef to snorkel in. Lunch was just a few steps over and then more snorkeling. I just thought the island was beautiful. Maybe our driver made it better but I just loved the day.

Thank you for the review.

A question for you - how did you find the daytime activities? Was there a variety and spread throughout the day?

We're more indoor than outdoor people - did you notice how busy the lounges and interior places were during the day?

And finally - did you spend any time in the casino? We're big slot players and I'm interested in the variety of slot machines (specifically if there is a Cleopatra machine onboard).

Thanks for your review we are sailing jan 25, very excited, were on the same deck. Glad there was not much noise. Were you on ytd? Did you leave port on time?

We didn't leave on time. They had a medical emergency on the previous cruise and got into port an hour late. I was just impressed that we were able to board by noon--we had FTTF (definitely worth it!!!!) I don't remember what time we left but it was dark when we passed under the bridge. It really wasn't a big deal about leaving later because the cruise just really started for us when we got on board!

They have the Fun Times in your room (and copies all over the ships). It lists all the activities going on by the hour. There was a variety of activities -- we mainly did the trivia games. There was an afternoon tea on the sea days. I will say that the outside decks were the most crowded. I will try to post a copy of the Fun Times guide so you can see what I mean. When I walked through the inside lounges they were not crowded during the day. It looked like most people were having fun. We went through the casino several times during the day--again, busy, but not overly crowded. I don't know about the Cleopatra machine because I didn't use the casino. I only used my free vouchers for the cash cube. Fun but nearly impossible to win.

We were on this cruise too. My husband believes there was a Cleopatra machine. He says the machines were paying for some people, but in his case, he just made a bunch of donations.

My husband and I were on the same cruise; had a great time. I've always found embarkations from Tampa rather chaotic - our last cruise from there was just in Sept. However, this time it was one of the smoothest and quickest of all. It took about 20 minutes from arrival to eating lunch. We were very impressed!

Thanks.

I never plan to win (and am usually not disappointed) but I do like to play. Cleopatra is my mother's favourite machine (she likes to play a machine and just stay there - I like to move around).

I was on the Pride out of Baltimore in 2013 with a few girl friends. Me and hubby are thinking of booking for this October. How was your aft room. Was it as noisy and shaky as some say? They have them available and we are thinking about it but I would hate to ruin hubby's first Carnival cruise with a bad cabin experience. Cannot wait to experience the upgrades.

My husband and I have been on the Pride 5 times (and are going again in March :) We had an aft suite about a year ago and it was the worst! It was noisy and rocky and you could only see where you've been!! It was the ONLY time I got seasick!! From now on we always stay midship!!

But I LOVE the Pride...maybe that's obvious??;)

Bridlegs, do you remember what your suite number was? I just booked an aft Ocean Suite.

I believe it was 6329 Empress level. Also, I forgot to tell you about ALL the soot from the stacks lands on your chairs on the balcony. When you sit down you get all these black specks on your clothes.
