wulicny Posted June 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2004 We will be arriving by train early in the morning on the day of our QM2 cruise. I would like to arrange for a limo to pick us up at Madison Square Garden (Penn Station), take us somewhere for a good New York breakfast, then deliver us to the pier. I figure three or four hours of limo time will also get us a nice tour of the city before the pier. Do you have any suggestions on reliable limo companies and good places for breakfast? Does the Carnegie Deli have a breakfast? TIA, Bill Costa Carla "C" - 1979 RCCL Rhapsody OTS - 1999 Century - August 23, 2003 - E. Jane110 Posted June 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Hi Bill, I don't know any limo companies to recommend. If you don't find one, would you consider a car service? Here are the numbers for a few of them: AllState - 800-453-4099 hourly rate $30. TelAviv - 800-222-9888 Carmel - 800-9-CARMEL $35 an hour. Breakfast: No, I believe that the Carnegie Deli does not service breakfast, however, The 2nd Ave Deli does, and so does Katz's Deli. My other breakfast recommendations would be: Barney Greengrass - upper west side Bubby's - Tribeca Cupping Room Cafe - Soho Jane
wulicny Posted June 14, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted June 14, 2004 Jane, Thanks for the great suggestions! Barney Greengrass sounds like an interesting one. I didn't know there was a difference between limo services and car services. I figured we would need a limo just because we have five people, each with 10 nights' worth of luggage. I'm not sure a large car would be enough. We might even need a van. In any event, I have added your list of car services to my list of limo companies, and I will be researching them soon. Thanks again, Bill Costa Carla "C" - 1979 RCCL Rhapsody OTS - 1999 Century - August 23, 2003 - E. Caribbean Queen Mary 2 - November 26, 2004 waiting ... and waiting ... Jane110 Posted June 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Bill, You're welcome. BArney Greengrass has no ambience and serves traditional Jewish NY breakfast items like bagels and lox. The quality is excellent if you can stand the bustling crowd. Bubby's is a place to be seen - you might run into DeNiro there. It's basically a diner - but with a cuter decor that is best for breakfast or lunch. Barney Greengrass has better food, Bubby's has better 'tude. pcur Posted August 26, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2004 We took this limo tour for a day in NY and LOOOOOOOVED it. The driver is the nicest guy. He told stories and the history of New York the whole time he drove us around (8 people). They will customize your tour for eating, whatever.
