helen haywood Posted January 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2015 Hey, we're going to sail on the Getaway for our first NCL cruise. I understand it would be a good idea to pre-book our dinner reservations. Do you specify where you want to eat or does the host/hostess offer you a choice of inside or waterfront when you arrive? Daghis Posted January 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2015 When you pre-book your reservation (online, at least), you don't get to specify your location preference. You should be able to go to the restaurant after you board and let them know then where you'd like to sit so they can note that on your reservation in their system. When we sailed on Getaway in September, we didn't give any preferences at the beginning, but then we decided we wanted to try eating out on the Waterfront, so we simply asked in advance and they took care of it for us. It was great eating outside, especially as we were pulling away from port and as the sun was setting on the horizon. It was simply beautiful. ChrisCJSU Posted January 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2015 Was there smoking in the outdoor restaurant seating? NCL banned all smoking on their ships back in November, with the exception of the casino. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Daghis Posted January 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2015 (edited) NCL banned all smoking on their ships back in November, with the exception of the casino. Not entirely. From this page: On Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway, smoking on The Waterfront will be permitted on the starboard side, except by the outdoor dining areas.... Smoking cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars and pipes is permitted in outdoor public guest spaces and open decks where designated by the ship's management based on the ship's specific characteristics and arrangement. Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is prohibited in or near venues serving food, the jogging track, outdoor sporting venues, The Haven outdoor areas and children's pool areas. ChrisCJSU Posted January 19, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2015 Not entirely. From this page: You're right. Those two ships have another area. Big change is you can't smoke on balconies anymore or the few smoking areas on the top deck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
sarahsue317 Posted January 19, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2015 According to Norwegian's website (from just a few moments ago), it specifically indicates "those guests in balcony staterooms will be permitted to smoke on their outside balconies"..... Sent from my iPhone using Forums They must have changed the policy. I'm personally not a smoker but thought that was a little over the top. That's interesting. I guess NCL missed some updates when their policy changed. Where did you find that? Oh, I just realized, it might have been in the "Ask & Answer" area. Those answers could be out of date.
marymunro Posted January 20, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 20, 2015 I really don't care about smoke on a balcony unless it's blowing over to mine, or flicking butts on my balcony. Great that it's not allowed in outdoor restaurant. I love eating outside, but not when inhaling smoke. No offense to smokers, been there... Now enjoying breathing clean air 😊
