Damn....we leave next Friday, was planning on ordering one. We already ordered our beach chair safes :)

If the prices don't come down, $10 extra ain't going to kill me I guess :/

Amazon has them back in stock at $21.23 (and free 2-day with Prime if you have it), so not too bad:

Ordered my 2.1A Belkin about two weeks ago from Amazon for about $19 with free two day Prime shipping. Got it day after I ordered.

Weird. I've never seen it that low except for the Deal of the Day. There is a site that tracks prices even -- and I just checked and it says the cheapest this has been since the middle of March (besides the Deal of the Day price) is $21.23.

I see now that around the first week of March, it dropped down to around $19.50 for a few hours one day. So, you must have gotten lucky with just the right time! :)

Could have been. I don't remember exactly when I ordered it, and it could have been right around $21. My memory isn't always the greatest

Hey! For anyone interested, this specific Belkin 3-outlet plus 2-USB surge protector that is often recommended here is Amazon's Deal of the Day (April 6, 2015)! It is the one that provides 2.1amps for the USB ports (instead of the standard 1amp) so that you can charge things like iPhones, iPad, Galaxy phones, and so on that require the higher amperage. And the single plug swivels and locks at ANY position -- which is what makes it so nice for so many cruise ships! You can find it here:

Normally it is $21.99 on Amazon -- today it is only $14.99 (shipped for free if you have Prime) -- and that makes it even cheaper than the 1amp version!

I had just bought one for our last cruise about a month ago after it was recommended here and really liked it. So I thought I'd pass around the info on the sale.

It ends just over 13 hours from the time of this posting. Just FYI.

I am on Amazon now and some of the reviews say the USB is not strong enough to charge an ipad. Does that meant this higher amp one should?

Check the rating on your iPad for sure.

Yeah, the reviews are all mixed together regardless of which model the person bought -- so you have to be careful when reading them.

The one I linked to is the 2.1amp one -- which absolutely can charge an iPad, iPhone, Galaxy S, and other devices that require the higher amperage to charge.

Should be fine!

Note that some of the reviews mentioned that they were trying to charge an iPad and another device (such as an iPhone) at the same time. It will actually NOT do that. It supposed 2.1amps TOTAL across the two ports. So, you can charge two 1amp devices at the same time -- or just one 2.1amp device (like an iPad).

Just to mention it.

Some of the bigger ones won't work, especially the ones that cover both outlets in a standard household version. Many ships have recessed outlets or other obstructions nearby that prevent them from plugging in. You need to take a short extension for most.

We used to bring one of those for our alarm clock + extra for charging camera, etc. However, our clock was always incorrect when we came back to the cabin. The steward had to unplug it to use the European outlet for the vacuum. I do have a European outlet for the 220 & my curling iron is 110/220 so I plug it in there.
