JBlock54 Posted January 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2015 Is there a new law that requires ships to return to port if close enough in the case of an emergency? I have noticed the last month or so a lot of ships returning to port shortly after sail away that I have not noticed in the past. Any information? MADflyer Posted January 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2015 The only recent developments that might be influencing some ships decision to return to port are related to medical malpractice lawsuits, with a pair of court decisions in November and December potentially opening up the cruise lines to more lawsuits. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/12/23/ruling-cruise-malpractice-lawsuits/20798131/
