We have been to Roatan many times including Mahogany Bay. Mahogany Bay was built by Carnival. There really isn't any snorkeling at Mahogany Bay at all. And you have to walk to the far end of the long beach to get to the dock where I was told there was snorkeling. But I only saw one needle fish.

The fantastic place for snorkeling is Tabyanna beach The reef is right off the shore, an easy walk. Once they said it was only for groups so our cab driver took us to the hotel right next door and we just walked over and snorkeled. It may also have another name but I don't remember it-West Bay beach (???).

If you take a cab there have him take you along the water. This goes past the native's houses. We saw a mother cleaning fish in the water with her sons playing nearby, children probably doing homework sitting on the steps to their porch. The houses are tiny and some have a small structure at the end of a narrow dock. (This is their out house.) We enjoy seeing native things and not driving past big new houses.
