Escape Upgrade Advice

Last month we booked three mini suites on the Escape with the UBP for January 2016; one for us, one for my brother and his wife, and one for my BiL and his girlfriend. We were paying for the three as a "last chance to vacation before kids" trip. Now, my brother doesn't think they'll be able to make the trip. With the 3-8 sail free promo, when we "cancel" my brother's cabin, we can "upgrade" to the Haven 2-br suite for the same price as the three minis. That would give up UBP for two of the four of us, UDP for all, and a good sized OBC. We've never done a suite before, but heard fantastic things. Last cruise, we had Vibe passes, which were amazing; with haven access we can skip those too. What are people's thoughts?

A few points of concern, and a question related to each:

1) If other friends decide to come along, they won't be able to get into the Haven to hang with us unless they're in suites too, as opposed to us all getting Vibe passes like last cruise.

1a) With the 3-8 sail free, can we have a friend book as the fifth guest in our suite (which "sleeps" up to 6) and also book a studio room, so that he can have haven access , UDP, and also a real bed? Am I correct that he would just need to pay port fees, or do those just get charged once with a double booking?

2) Whichever two of us don't get the UBP may feel a bit left out.

2a) Is it possible to "upgrade" from the soda package to the UBP?

3) Haven perks are butler, concierge, Haven bar and restaurant, and the haven itself. Am I missing anything?

Thanks so much in advance for all the help!

1: Correct, they would not be able to hang out in the courtyard, they can hang out in your room though and they can join you for dinner 2x at the Haven restaraunt for a $25.00 fee each time.

1A: They would be charged port fees twice and one fare for the studio. They would also be charged the $12.00 a day tips twice (once in each room)

2: That is correct, they probably will, what I did for one 1 haven booking was booked myself and my cousin as passenger 1 & 2 so we both get the UBP and the OBC and he can use his $150 towards his daughters drink plan (not really a gambler) and I will use my $ on my mothers drinks by the pool (we all have casino drink cards and she spends most of her time there so there is no need to purchase full plan for her).

2A: That question has been asked recently but not answered to date.

3: 1 of the best perks is the private elevator off the ship at every port, no waiting.
