tight connection

Sadly the OP does not get it still. Apparently he felt by providing ZERO details, we would know his port that he needed to go North from???

His Answer was that he was protecting his privacy, causing us to guess and the need to waste time searching his prior posts in an attempt to offer good advice!

Except no one is forcing or asking anyone to search prior posts. A simple "we can't help you without more information" might have gotten the point across. No, not helpful, but the OP apparently didn't want help.

will be traveling with 3 grandchildern 1 daughter and a wife. does anyone know since we are arriving in Seward at 6:00 am is it enough time to be able to catch the 8:30 am shutlle north?

Here is what OP is looking for -

The answer to his question is two fold

First he does not have a tight connection in spite of what someone told him and second he should have no trouble at all making the connection that he is asking about whether it is by train, van or bus.

I don't think he has any idea how small the port and Seward are, really a tiny area, and he can get anywhere within a few minutes.

I defer to your knowledge, however, why did the cruise line tell him it was a tight connection and they did not recommend it?

Don't forget there are 6 of them and 3 are small children. You never get anywhere in a timely manner with three children.:D

Maybe the cruise line thought he was trying to make a flight in Anchorage???? Hard to say as the OP has been very very cryptic regarding details of his actual plans..... Hoping there aren't multiple ships in port. If he is sailing on the HAL thread he commented on he should be good..... However if it's some other sailing with three ships to clear immigration ????

The OP for privacy reasons did not want to actually name the port, ship or date. His loss as I'm done with a guy who can't accept help gracefully ;)

You don't clear immigration in Seward, you have been in the US for teh entire cruise, you cruise when you board in Vancouver, so that is not an issue.

Seward is really tiny, we walked from the small boat harbor (that's where the shuttle will be, if it is not right outside the tent that houses checkin) to the ship in about 10 minutes. A cab would take about 2 minutes to make the trip.

Of course with any cruise, there's always the possibility that your ship doesn't dock on time (weather conditions, etc.) or disembarkation in general starts late. So that could be why the cruise line is saying a tight connection.

But seriously, there's privacy and there's obstinacy. No one is demanding his name, but there are details that won't disclose your identity.
