knittinggirl Posted February 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2015 I heard the Star Princess was charging $3 for washing and $3 for drying. How big are the machines? Do they have a fill the bag special for their laundry services? If so, how much?

That price is pretty inexpensive compared to using the laundry bag and sending it out.
ggprincess2004 Posted February 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2015 Yes, it was 3 and 3 on CB this past fall when they changed from cash to tokens, and the capacity is about the same as a home washer and dryer. Still not nearly as expensive as the laundry service, and no, I haven't seen an all you can stuff in a bag special in ages. Perhaps just not on the cruises we have chosen in the last few years.... I still think that having a passenger laundry is fantastic, even though one the benefits we enjoy is free laundry service, I still prefer to do some of my own things rather than be concerned about the water temps and dryer heat on the more delicate items. Steven_&_Daniel Posted February 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2015 Do the machines take bills? We've never needed to do laundry while on board due to shorter cruises. But we have a longer cruise coming up, and will be doing laundry for the first time. Any tips or suggestions?

If it is one that is converted to tokens there is a machine in the laundry room where you swipe for cruise card to get them.

Pursers desk will also make change. we take quarters along so are prepared if we know we will be doing laundry. Steven_&_Daniel Posted February 19, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 19, 2015 Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know. I'll make sure we take plenty of quarters.
coo359a2 Posted February 19, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2015 For the Regal and Coral in January, both had the "swipe your cabin card" and your stateroom account was charged $6 (1 wash and 1 Dry). Did not have to go down to the PS Desk and change quarters for tokens.
crochetcruise Posted February 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 20, 2015 Pretty much standard size washers and dryers. Not huge but similar to home machine capacity. That price is pretty inexpensive compared to using the laundry bag and sending it out. That price is comparable for washing, and $1 cheaper than what I pay, and a friend pays for washing, I just use the dryer, at our local Laundromat. I have also seen people bring their own washing powder/liquid to save money. I have a washing machine in my unit-cannot safely handle a front loader (balance problems so not confident getting it loaded and unloaded, and I was advised to get it elevated for safety by the salesperson! He really wanted, and didn't get, the sale!), and pack the waterproofs or sheets (only things I usually take to the Laundromat, everything else hangs in the shower) and go for a walk taking some crocheting to entertain myself.
