Yellowbird tour

Hi! has anybody done this yellowbird tour excursion? It's supposed to be a three hour tour-- riding the catamaran to take you to a beach (doesn't say which beach) so you can go swimming. Rum punch are available with live music which sounds fun. Looking at the thumbnail of the catamaran it looks old. If anybody had done this excursion please give your comment. We'll be sailing next week and I haven't booked any excursions. Thanks.

Here's some pictures of the boat and PEARL ISLAND.. the island that the tour will take you to. The beach is small, but fun, there's a grill, daiquiri bar, stingrays (you can pay extra), snorkeling (Extra) etc. You can rent a chair for $5, no shade on the beach, but plenty of palapas along the pathway. The water is crystal clear and calm.

On the way back, there's a DJ/band, with local line dances and limbo contests.. it's really quite fun for all ages. The boat has 3 decks, both inside and out, so you can find a nook to relax in if you choose not to participate in the fun.

We did this tour on our first cruise. We thought it was fun. The band was good and entertaining. There was a nice lady on board selling coverups, necklaces and hair braiding. She wasn't at all pushy - just a nice lady. Rum punch flowed freely - easy to get without lines or waiting.

As a native south Floridian, the "beach" wasn't authentic but it was still clean and clear. I prefer a little wildlife along the rocks - fish or sea urchins or something. It was pretty much cleared out of the ocean creatures and netting farther out keeps things from swimming in or moving back on the rocks which might scare the tourists. :)

It was a really fun excursion though. I don't think the tiny island was even finished yet when we were there because it sounds even nicer now. Parts were roped off and under construction when we were there.

There is a tip can at the exit of the boat. The entertainment was definitely worth it to me. It was fun to watch the guests dance who had been drinking too much, coaxed along by the man who sang and danced with them.

It depends on what time your ship gets into port. We arrived at 10:00 am and had plenty of time to shop in town, have lunch and the group for the Yellowbird met on the dock at 2:00. A guide then walked all of us to the 3 level Yellowbird and the fun began. We were back in Nassau just after 5:00. Definately a fun excursion! Watch out for the rum punch - it's much more potent than it seems! There was a couple on our tour a couple of weeks ago that were dancing and having a good time one minute and passed out cold the next. I wouldn't want that hangover!

Since Yellowbird is a cruiseline charter, times can change. There are some charters that leave at 9am for some ships, but generally, the daily tour is at 1pm. They ocassioanally leaves at 2pm to accomodate other ships arrivals.
