phillychick Posted February 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2015 A friend of a friend said he received a free cruise by gambling in the ships Casino, playing the slots. He said that one night he rec'd a free bottle of wine with dinner, another was free drinks in the casino & on his final night he rec'd an envelope with a free cruise voucher. Has anyone ever heard of this? If so, how much did he have to spend in the casino, on the slots?
sgttami Posted February 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2015 I got all that too on Splendor in October. The "free" cruise was nice but you had to book it within 14 days and as everyone knows, there is no such thing as FREE.(lol) Port charges, taxes, upgrades etc. I spent a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$. It would have been cheaper to just book more cruises but it was fun.
PinaCarada Posted February 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2015 My husband just received this "bounce-back" offer on our 1/17 Breeze cruise. He received his Drinks on Us card once he attained 1500 points on the slots. We also checked in with the casino host on the last sea day of the cruise to see if he was eligible for any other perks, and received a free bottle of wine in the MDR that night. On the last night, we returned from dinner to the letter in our mailbox, offering us a free interior stateroom on select sailings, which were printed on the back of the letter. We would only be responsible for taxes and port fees, but we had to book within 14 days of receipt of the letter. The sailings ranged from 5-12 days on pretty much every ship/embarkation port but only until the end of April. When we got home I called the number on the letter to see if there were any additional sailings that he qualified for, and they had a ton more up until the end of June. We booked our sailing on the Pride in June for taxes and port fees only (around $150 for both of us) and upgraded to a balcony ($140 for the both of us). A mock booking shows the room 2 doors down from our balcony is going for $2700 for 2 people, so we made out pretty darn well. His slot point total for the cruise was around 3500. He did not play more than a half hour or so at the tables. My brother and his girlfriend also received free cruise offers the last night. They did not play any slots but played blackjack or Texas Hold 'Em, but not for an exorbitant amount of time and on the lower-denomination tables. Their offers were also for interiors for only taxes/port fees, were not restricted to any specific sailings like my husband's was, but they also had to book within 14 days. Two weeks to book next cruise is not enough time for us, so we will pass on the offer. FYI, we both play slots, my wife got 3400 pts, and I ended up with 3600. This was for a 6 day cruise. Artemus Posted February 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2015 I sailed on 4 free cruises (inside cabin) from the casino last year. We upgraded and paid extra for a balcony. These cruises were via the letter from the casino on the last night. You must pay taxes and port fees with the free cruises.
PinaCarada Posted February 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2015 This was my husband's first time earning a "bounce-back" offer, and he was wondering if he would get any additional perks upon embarkation in June. Would any of you who have already sailed on your bounce-back cruise let me know? :D Some of the CCers from our Breeze roll-call in January mentioned they started the cruise with their Drinks on Us card waiting in their stateroom for them, had chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne delivered, had a free night at the Steakhouse, etc. It was a Premier cruise, so I'm pretty sure that's why they started with those awesome perks, but I figured I'd ask because he will be thrilled if he can start the cruise with Drinks on Us. :p
USNUZULOOSE Posted February 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 25, 2015 We got the free offer from the casino, don't know why we don't gamble.
birdlgs Posted February 25, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2015 My husband and I usually receive a free cruise when we sail. We sailed last year for free with only having to pay for upgrading to a balcony, port fees and taxes. Since we both had the offer we got 2 rooms and our son and his friend went with us! When I called Carnival to ask what comps I would get they said only the drinks on us card but no casino cash since the cruise was already comped! :( To receive this offer I had over 10,000 points and my husband had about 6,300 points. If you get at least 5000 you will get the drinks on us card on your next cruise immediately. However you have to email them and ask for it. We are now going on our first premier cruise in March on the Pride and I can't wait!! We both get the drinks on us card, early embarkation and I get $900 in CASH (hubby only gets $400) :D

I also got free wine at dinner two nights, strawberries in room and cookies.

Elaine5715 Posted February 26, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Did you receive VIFP credits for those days? The casino is actually paying the cruiseline for your cruise so you do get the points.

I received a "free inside cabin" offer and did just book a sailing on Triumph (only time we could get off work matched this one cruise perfectly) - anyway, is there a way to know if you qualified for any extra perks like the free drinks before you get on board? or do they tell you when you check in at the port? I think my points were around 7500 for the last cruise where I received this offer.
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted February 27, 2015 #16 Share Posted February 27, 2015 So on our premier upcoming cruise my other half can get a free cruise offer and I am hoping if this is the case as I have land based trips planned for July and August that they will offer in the fall? WinnipegCruiser Posted February 27, 2015 #17 Share Posted February 27, 2015 We got a BB or Bounce back offer on our last cruise (ended Jan 4th). Now... there were some tricky conditions and we decided to pay for the upgrade to a balcony cabin, BUT we are going. So mid March we are sailing on the Carnival Pride for 14 days. It is a repositioning cruise, so the itinerary is a unique one. From Tampa it goes down through the south Caribbean (including Aruba and Panama) and ends in Baltimore MD. We are very excited for this one. It has many new ports of call for us.

Ruggled Posted February 27, 2015 #20 Share Posted February 27, 2015 We've sailed on several of these offers--in fact 2 of our 3 cruises last year were "free" We typically consider it "advance paying" for the next cruise through the casino. That said, when we cruised at Christmas, my 19 year old son and I received the letters...DH did not. Now granted, we sail enough that many of the casino supervisors, hosts and dealers know both us and our son--but for the life of me, I'm still surprised he received a free cruise. I know what kind of bank roll my kid had and I know he played $10 Black Jack and occasionally craps when the table was hot --no slots. The only thing I can figure in his case is he played every single night/morning until they shut down the casino and somehow managed to earn enough points at the tables being able to slow-play his losses. In any event, we are headed out next week to take advantage of those two "free" cruises for Spring Break...so here we go again! :D
