partybarbie Posted February 27, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2015 DH and I were on the Island Princess last Saint Patrick's Day. The Explorer's lounge was decorated with shamrocks and they were serving green beer. I actually have my patter, so here's a few highlights of the festivities. 4:00 pm St. Patrick's Day Sailaway Party with the band Opus 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm MUTS movie "Darby O'Gill and the Little People" 8:45 pm St. Patrick's Day Trivia in the Explorer's Lounge 9:15 pm St. Patrick's Day Day party in the Explorer's Lounge with Opus 10:00 pm Luck of the Irish contest in the Casino Unfortunately, DH and I can't remember if they were serving corn beef and cabbage. Maybe at the buffet, but I don't think so in the main dining room. We wore our green clothes and green shamrock necklaces, but don't feel like you have too. Walt Disney's image of Ireland is even more removed from reality than their vision of Scotland !!! :D Just remember that Disney is responsible for the false idea that Lemmings migrate to the sea and jump off of cliffs into the ocean. That was a total fabrication from Disney that has hung on for years. Thrak Posted February 27, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 27, 2015 If you cruise on Carnival on St. Paddy's Day you will likely see a lot of "hurling" but not the type the Irish play on a field of grass.
metairiegal Posted February 28, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2015 Lots of people wear green - not just during the day but at night, too. Lots of hats, men with green blinking bow ties, people wearing green beads, etc. The dollar stores have lots of this stuff, if you want to buy some cheap! We put a green magnetic four leaf clover on our door.
