Post cruise in Galveston

We are taking a short cruise out of Galveston, arrives back on Monday April 20th. Is it worth trying to spend some time there and taking a late (7:15pm) flight out of Hobby that evening or should we just plan an afternoon flight and head to the airport right off the ship. Anyone have any advice on what to do for a day in Galvetson or is this just too much trouble?
