Mark_K Posted March 7, 2015 #26 Share Posted March 7, 2015 We have sailed with Crystal, Regent, Seabourn and now Silversea and have to say that the SS staff didn't compare very well. Too slow and disorganised in many instances and an obvious lack of training and/or supervision. We also encountered an attitude problem from time to time which I believe was an indication of low morale and poor management behind the scenes. We got the impression they were under extreme pressure in an already demanding job. Question: what is the point of butlers? What are they supposed to do compared to what they actually do? I'm not sure what all they're supposed to do, but on our last cruise, he polished my shoes before every formal night, brought us wine and snacks in the afternoon, delivered our room service meals, cleaned our luggage, answered questions about ship activities, etc.
oregon50 Posted March 8, 2015 #27 Share Posted March 8, 2015 Lecturer on ports, Ira, is really a shill for SS tours! Is Ira listed as destination specialist, or enrichment lecturer?
duct tape Posted March 8, 2015 #28 Share Posted March 8, 2015 He is a destination specialist.
oregon50 Posted March 8, 2015 #29 Share Posted March 8, 2015 Thanks DT. In that case, one would expect him to be pushing SS tours. The company has blurred the definition of enrichment.
wripro Posted March 9, 2015 #30 Share Posted March 9, 2015 Maybe they're referring to their own "enrichment!"
kloreece Posted August 2, 2015 #31 Share Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) Our Butler was very nice but, at the end if the day, he did very little that was special. Very little. Edited August 2, 2015 by kloreece
