Anthem - Obstructed balcony Q

Does anyone happen to know if its the lifeboats which obstruct the view on Anthem deck 6, and just how 'obstructed' the view is? Can you see anything past them?:confused:

There are 2 different kinds of obstructions on the deck 6 balconies.

 

Some are obstructed by the lifeboat only and they come to just under the height of the railing, those are listed as a 50% obstructed view.

 

Others are obstructed by the lifeboat and the davit that holds the lifeboat. The davit goes up almost to the top of the balcony. These cabins are listed as a 75% obstructed view.

 

If you go to the royalcaribbean.uk site and do a mock booking it will show the % obstruction for the cabins.

 

The cabins with the red dots are 75% obstructed.

When i did my booking it just said guarantee... no option to select cabins

 

That's because you chose a guarantee cabin. If you choose a regular DO cabin you can select your cabin. When you booked you may not have had that option.

Something is missing from this discussion.

 

The cabins all the way forward (I think that they are only on Decks 7 & 8, but the internet is too slow on board the Serenade to check right now) are classified as DO. Those are obstructed NOT by lifeboats or davits, but by the fact that the opening is not the full rectangle of the shape of the balcony, but a large circle.

 

I was in one on our Cabin Crawl, and they are perfectly lovely cabins with a great view.

 

You can easily see them in a photograph of the outside of the Quantum/Anthem from the side.

Thats what obstructed balcony means... What else would it be obstructed by?

 

for your information i have been on cruises before the obstuction was the shape of the ship you couldn't see to the front the way the balconies were positioned

There are three, ALL already described on this thread.

 

1. Lifeboats

 

2. Lifeboat davits/supports

 

3. Smaller round opening instead of full rectangular opening.

What is the best location/deck for a balcony - it says some balconies are bigger than the other - any suggestions?
